They've got some great nuggets of their long history, but unless you're familiar with Roman, Byzantine, & Ottoman history, they don't give you a context for these treasures. Large percentage is focused on a naval battle between Ottomans & Russians during Catherine the Great's time that retreated into Cesme's harbor. Lots of irrelevant doc on Catherine's lovers-- maybe to get... More

The wheater is perfect, the castle has a great view over the sea, you can feel the wind meanwhile you are ascending the stairs, is lonely but interisting, and in the streets you can drink a beer looking the sunset, very nice moment

Interesting displays, but the highlight was the view from the top. It was equivalent to about a 5 story climb, but worth the trouble.

Medium size castle, nicely organized exhibits, beautiful view. We visited the caste&museum at 9.00 am. Kind of a work out to climb all those stairs (like one of the previous comments said). Museum shop and cafe were closed. 8 TL per person and this museum is in the list for free entrance with Turkish Müze Kart and a credit card.

It is a great castle the view is amazing from the different towers and walls. The railing are not super safe for smaller kids since there is a big gap between the building and the railing. Older kids can have a blast roaming around up and down the stairs.

Definitely worth seeing. For those who love photography, art, exploring or history it's the place to be. Beware that the kale does close at 7pm. There are small galleries within the castle where you can view old coins from all eras of history eg. Byzantines, roman empire, ottoman empire as well as other historical elements of the times.

Cesme Castle is 500 years old. Castle and the museum is piece of History that must be visited by every visitor to Cesme. By climbing up the stairs on the either side you will reach the top where you can be a 360 degree panoramic view of Cesme.

Well presented historical artifacts and maritime history. Great marina views and well worth dropping in too if in Cesme. Elder people may have issues with steep steps.
