The settlement of Pinara was one of the principal cities of Lycia and existed as early as the 5th century BC. The site is in untouched mountain setting and offers stunning view of the Xanthos valley.

A good picturesque drive from the main Fethiye road, quite long but not scarily sharp or high, the last part over a very potholed unmade track. The city is in the most beautiful location, green, beautiful pines, backed by an unusual flat topped mountain Cragus?Everywhere...More

Pınara offers a lot to explore for the visitors - nature, hiking, scenic walk, rock tombs, amphitheatre and other remains of ancient buildings. The view to the rock face with the rock-cut tombs is amazing. Keep in mind to war proper shoes for the trip.

We arrived by car (last 2km is twisty dirt/gravel road) around 5pm and the sun was just going behind the mountain. That made the light subdued but did mean we had a lovely scenic walk. It's not at all well signed and is a huge...More
