Beautiful scenery and amazing history. A must visit. I want to return in warmer months to visit. Friendly people and cool Cossacks.

I visit the resturant and museum. Museum much better to visit at the summer and not in the winter. Quite cool anyway but I can imagine a lot more activity in the summer. Resturant was very cozy and great food.

I enjoyed the visit. I have been there to visit a stable, and I was impressed by the place and people cordiality. A break from the gray Ukraine

In October 2016 we visited Hortitsa Island with my large family. We went down to the river, saw a campus of mountain climbers. Area was clean.

We went via public transport with the purpose of seeing the reconstructed Cossacks complex and musuem as well as the prehistoric stone circles. (The complex was a 40 minute walk from the nearest bus stop). Beautiful views and great for hikers, nature lovers alike. Spent 3-4 hours walking around the north of the island :)

This island accounts for 90% of Zaporizhia charm. It is quite diverse, having forests, beaches, secluded places on river banks, pagan sanctuaries, the reconstruction of the Sich fortress, and stunning views from the hills on the river and DneproGES dam, and more. You cannot even comprehend it from a couple of visits. Highly recommended for everyone.

Well worth visiting this island and seeing their history. The woodwork done inside the church is incredible. Each building hold treasures from the past. Great view of the dam too.

This island has many twist and turns. You can always back track but I felt it is fun to get lost. There are many things to see. The Hydro electric plant, the Cocosix fort musium. I am here in Aug And it is hot, hot, hot. The trididitional Ukrainian restaurant overlooking th cliffs on the Dneper River. We saw young... More

Hortitsa Island shows you some rare heritage of Ukraine. Especially the Cossak Museum is worth visiting. It shows you a part of the history of Ukraine which is possibly already forgotten by the dominance of the USSR in the previous century. Specially interesting is the fact that the Cossak tribe was a democratic society... :-)
