About
The zoo was established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1968. Our zoo is one of the most important and diverse tourism attractions on both local and global level. As the largest zoo of its type in the Middle East, and for more than 50 years, our zoo has continued to convey the pioneering vision of the late Sheikh Zayed, demonstrating his keenness to preserve wildlife in the United Arab Emirates by preserving the environment and sustaining its resources in accordance with the best global standards.

Yesterday I've tried the safari part. The experience inside the safari itself was good. However, the whole experience, from entry to exit, was one of the worst I've ever had and I don't recommend anyone to visit it. The ticket itself is highly overpriced, and when you reach there, the make you walk from entrance till you reach to the starting point of the safari trip, a distance that is can't be considered as walkable at all in UAE summer times. When you inquire about utilizing carts or shuttle service, they surprise you with additional charge, on top of the overpriced 1000 ticket, and charge a AED 42 per person (who charges a shuttle service per person anyway?!!). Given the size of zoo and the spread of visits areas in the safari and thereafter, you find yourself compelled to purchase this overpriced service that came as a total surprise for you during the trip itself and without paying any other types of refreshments or other entertainments.

I would definitely give the experience as 0 out of 10 and for sure would never recommend anyone to visit it during summer or even during winter if such treatment of the shuttle service continues.

Awful call center agents, tried to make dinner with lions but call center doesn’t speak proper english and just cut the line and ignored the call. After 4 th try in another phone they answered and said they don’t have anything except Safari but on site they say they have everything. We spend almost 2000AED inside and more for transfer to go there and it was not worth it. You have to train staff otherwise it will ruin all experience as you guarantee on your site.

they have variety of animals. I was excited to see the hippopotamus and gorilla but sadly the area was under maintenance. However they still have alot of other animals such as lions, cheetah and a whole lot of oryx. The zoo was clean and well maintained. In every area they make sure they have shops or snacks bar to be able to refresh and eat food while roaming around the zoo. The experience was great.

1. Huge area- well maintained- very friendly staff-huge parking lot
2. The animals looked healthy.
3. Plenty of greeneries and places to rest and take small refreshments.
4. Best thing is the battery run shuttles with friendly drivers.
5. A lot of displays but expected more.
6. No elephant or bear
7. Freshly cooked fast foods are served in the cafeteria at stop 4.
8. The bird enclosure was nice but penguin enclosure is a bit dull looking.
9. Loved the amphitheater area specially the benches but there was no information about show. Doubt when is the show.
10. The museum is good.
11. Negative part is hot February afternoon. All the animals hiding/ sleeping or looking very sad except monkeys.

A great way to spend a few hours in the cold of January. Lions mostly asleep. The Oryx herd a must see. Easy walks around the park. A useful visitor's centre with a fabulous library of UAE centred resources including sustainability and scientific endeavours in the UAE and other subjects plants, animals, geography, kids books etc.

We had been to Al Ain for a day and decided to visit the Zoo. It was a whole day of good times watching every creature in the Zoo. Our daughter was happy to see Flamingos and the giraffes. A place to spend time with family.

Unfortunately it's seems very few animals, facilities appeared signs of less maintenance. Staff are not friendly at all - ticket counter.

Except the ticket counter at the giraffe section.
This was perhaps the only section worth to visit. Others seems waste of time.

Please note that you have to pay extra for the giraffe section
