This airport was built in the form of a fort by the British and used to be far from the city. Now it is surrounded by skyscrapers. The building is still all there and a museum has been added with many genuine old plane and parts inside. The information panels are excellent. You can see a 30s film of Imperial... More

Al-Mahatta Museum commonly known as the aviation musem of sharjah is a well maintained museum with sevaral old model aircrafts. Its a great library for aviation enthusiasts. The museum building is the first airport in United Arab Emirates, maintained by Royal Airforce. The RAF used it as their base as well as a night stop over for the Imperial Airlines... More

Great place to learn about the aviation history of UAE. The oldest airport in the Middle East was converted to this museum. You can see some of the earliest planes to have landed here. And learn about the science of flight too/

The first airport in the UAE was built on the hard salt sand flats in Sharjah. Built in the 1930s this airport was a refueling stop on the long flights from UK to India and beyond. At that time it was in the desert about 2 kilometers from the fishing village of Sharjah on the creek. Today the "airport" is... More

Its a good place to take your Kids out. The place is small and showcase the rich history of the Sharjah Airport. The stand out is the Hanger where there are models of real planes and is very well maintained. There should have been more to the museum than this, but none the less a good place to take your... Its the oldest airport in UAE converted to museum now. The museum is literally lost and hidden among the skyscrapers of Sharjah. Follow your google map diligently and you will reach the place. Entry fee 10 dirham. Once inside the deserted courtyard, you first move to the aircraft hangar where there are models of planes of old. Also a cockpit... More

The museum has recently been revamped and may seem small on the outset but actually packs an impressive punch of wonder when inside. The history of the airport is nicely laid out and gives you an idea of life in the emirates at that time. There are a couple of airplanes that have been installed in the nearby hanger and... More

In 1938 Qantas Imperial started the 10 day flying boat service from Rose Bay to Southampton, with one of the overnight stops being in Dubai / Sharjah. The planes alighted on Dubai Creek, and guests and crew were then brought to this base for a nights sleep in safe quarters. A very well preserved site, and one of the few... More

unfortunately, the hangar was closed when we went, so we missed lot. The place is a bit difficult to find, but GPS is helpful. They have their dedicated parking for visitors. Pricing is very less. The flight simulator was broken, so needs attention. some of the interactive elements were also broken, so someone needs to pay attention.
