It is a steep climb to the top of the lighthouse but the view from the top amply repays the effort. The view over the old town and its promontory allows you to see the whole layout of the historic centre and understand how it all hangs together.

The view from the top of the lighthouse costs you $25 pesos and a lot of climbing steps. It is worth it!! This is a must do in Colonia.

Possibly the highest vantage point to survey the quaint UNESCO town. It isn't really high however. You get some decent views - but that's all. For that price, it's worth it. If there's a long queue however, skip it. It's much lovelier just strolling the cobbled streets, checking out the cool retro cars and the old port.

This is a must go attraction that provides a great view of the city center and of the Rio de la Plata river. The price to go up there was very cheap when went (25 pesos per person). It is required some amount of exercise.

Was I the lighthouse in Cape May NJ two weeks ago and the entrance was $8. This is a bargain with a great view. Platform is narrow, not recommended for the Acrophobic.

Well, it is a pretty lighthouse, the visit is quite cheap and the view is good. However, there's not so much to see, therefore it is not crucial to go up.

We did not have the time nor the stamina to climb the lighthouse, but it provides a lovely landmark.

Faro de Colonia is a really pretty lighthouse from the outside and is only about 80 us cents to get up the top. Though the views aren't as good as other Uruguayan lighthouses, it is still a really cool lighthouse.

Very popular with visitors, the small and not too tall lighthouse in the middle of the old district and seemingly jagged in the middle of the ruins of a convent, is not very special or terribly historical. It looks a bit out of place, actually. And yet looks fine as a background in photos of the small lanes lined with... More

Cool place to contemplate the whole town. The best panoramic pictures can be taken from here. You pay just a little fraction to go up.
