This is the perfect point for a scenic view of this beautiful colonial town. Teh visit is difficult to organise as there is only a narrow staircase up and down to the top so you have to wait or retreat when other visitors are going in the opposite direction. Nevertheless it is only a small climb and the views, covering... More

The ruins are of an ancient convent that burned in the 1600's and the old Lighthouse dates back to 1704. Both are popular picture spots

It is a lighthouse of the town. No more, no less meaning. You can climb the stair and you have to pay.

Its a lighthouse with nice views. Every lighthouse has that, doesn't it. I don't have anything special to say to move it beyond average.

Tight, confined space and a whole lot of stairs. Well worth the effort as one is rewarded with spectacular views of the quite port town of Colonia del Sacramento & the River de Plata. Can get quite windy at the top, however just enjoy sitting in the sun at the top and taking it all in.

The lighthouse is beautiful, but barely worth seeing. Frankly, after taking the ferry over from Buenos Aires to see Colonia, we were wondering why we had done so. In our opinion, we would have been much smarter to go to the extra effort to visit Montevideo. The trip to Colonia is, in our opinion, just not worth it. The lighthouse... More

The light house is the first thing you see from the ferry. There are good views of the city from the top.

A beautiful lighthouse in Colonia. Cheap to get up and worth the scary climb! I'm scared of heights but had to go up and it was worth it. Unfortunately it was a cloudy day but I could still see Argentina...okay maybe not!

A nice view of the River Plata (which by the way looks more like an ocean). A little less than a dollar (USD) gets you in. Then a 70 step trip up a tight spiral stair case to the first viewing platform. From there you see the histrorical section of town, the ruins of the old fort and glimpse into... More

It is worth going up at the lighthouse if in Colonia, if only to try to see Buenos Aires from the other side. I did not manage to get a sign of BA, but I still enjoyed the views of Colonia and Rio de la Plata from top.
