You can go all the way to the top. The views are awesome and it is very cheap to go in. 25 peso's is all it takes to climb up this amazing old peace of time.

Climbing to the top of the lighthouse affords wonderful views of historic Colonia del Scramento. It dates back to the 1850's and incorporates the ruins of a convent into its foorprint.

You can see the lighthouse from anywhere in the old town of Colonia. At night, it's red light sweeps around the area. Not sure if you can enter as it was closed the days I was here, but it's worth stopping by to see the...More

An easy climb to the top offering great views over the old town. Very affordable. Went on a dull and windy day so no doubt spectacular on a clear one. Worth a stop.

Climb up to get some good shots of the old city and the rio de la plata. On a clear day, you can see Buenos Aires from the top balcony.

The 25 Uruguayan peso entrance fee (less than 1USD) was definitely worth the view. It's not a terrible climb, but taller people should watch their head while climbing up. Both balconies offer lovely views of the city. This was one of the first things we...More

It's a long climb (and I heard some very heavy breathing from people ahead of us) but there is a balcony half way, so you don't have to go right to the top. If you do, the view is fantastic. Lots of people seem to...More

The story goes that there were so many shipwrecks on the coast of Colonia that a lighthouse was needed. So the authority of those days ordered to have one built in the middle of the XIX century, and it was financed by means of the...More
