On our way to the Higashiyama walking tour we stopped by the museum. It proved to be free, informative and very interesting. It gave us some background and understanding of the towns history. However, we felt that we missed out on a lot since there...More

We had a short walk here, the staff are extremely helpful, this beautiful place provides a snapshot of history and culture of the region. Not a lot of familiar language descriptions, but take your time and it is worth the visit.

Beautiful museum where you can learn a lot about the history of Takayama. Unfortunately niet all the signs are in English, so there will be Some guesswork involved. I recommend that you get all the stamps that are scattered around the museum.
