[Day trip bus tour from Kanazawa Station] Weekend only! World Heritage Shirakawago Day Bus Tour

3 reviews
This is a weekend-only bus tour from Kanazawa Station. This tour will visit Shirakawa-go, a world heritage site. Since the English staff will accompany you, it is a safe tour for foreigners. A guide will give you a walking map on the bus. We will also guide you to highlights and souvenirs in advance. The tour bus will take you to the Shirakawa Gosho Castle Castle Observatory, so you can enjoy an efficient walk. Lunch includes local dishes from the Hida region and Japanese set meals full of mountain food. There is no need to worry about meals, so you can take a leisurely walk. The tour includes a hand-baked rice cracker experience. Bake yourself a traditional Japanese rice snack. Try eating a baked rice cracker.

A small neighborhood with old teahouses, quaint alleys, and countless restaurants and shops. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from Kenrokuen. You'll find everything from high-end sushi to Instagrammable gold flake-topped soft serve ice creams in Higashichaya. Most come to walk around and take photos in the picturesque alleys, walk along the river, or pop into the many cafes for a beverage. Many of the buildings look like homes, but don't be fooled, most of them are either a restaurant, a teahouse, or a shop. It's also a good area to buy unique souvenirs. Prepare for lots of tourist during busy seasons.

Is one of quite a few "highlighted" stops in Kanazawa and on the tourist "loop bus" route. Well worth the stop and slow-walk around the quaint old streets. Area has plenty of craft/gift shops and even a gold shop (for food or wearing).

This is an old town with old Japanese structures found during the Edo period. We visited using our JR pass on JR bus. It looks like this area has been preserved for tourists. You can pay to visit one of the tea houses or just walk around to admire the area.
