Oyama Shrine saved Kanazawa! This small but very interesting shrine gave us an hour of enjoying the grounds and learning a bit about the Maedas. Located very near the castle, it makes for a good stop. Down the hill from this shrine there is a...More

After 2 weeks in Japan and seeing Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara etc., we'd seen a lot of shrines. This is small but has a number of different touches line the stained glass in the massive and gorgeous gateway to the little Japanese garden where you could...More

The entrance from the road by the hotel has the usual gate and main building however to the side of the shrine is a small park with a hill and lots of trees. In the park is a pond with a weird shaped stone bridge...More

This shrine is a lovely quiet retreat from the crowds. It has a beautiful water garden and delightful statues and bronzes. The temple itself is lovely.

We took the advice of previous Trip Advisors and arrived early, just after 9 am. The sun was shining through the stained glass in the tower. But the rest of the area was enchanting in its own ways. First, relatively uncrowded. Second, very nice ponds...More

Perfect place to go with other or solo. There are stands selling food and there isn't too many people so you can make a wish at the shrine. Once you finish you can explore the surrounding gardens.

Oyama shrine has a very pretty garden organised around a central pond. It's not a large or grand shrine, but it is close to Omicho market and the shops in Korinbo, so it's easy to visit. Definitely worth popping in there for 30-40 minutes.

Walking back to the hotel and found this shrine suddenly on our side. It is free to enter, although there was a wedding inside on our visit (although itself interesting to see). The buildings look good and there is a small garden area around which...More
