Kanichi and Omiya are the personages that appear in a famous novel named "Konjiki Yasha". This statue is a memory of that tragedy, but now few Japanese exactly knows that story.

Is according to comic book story. Atami at first famous of their owm onsen. However, after this story blow up big impact im newspaper for continuous of 5 1/2 years, Atami have become more famous and well-known.

I highly recommend this ocean front walkway that will bring you to this famous statue. The story is on a placard in English so we were able to read about the woman 'blinded by diamonds' and the well loved author who is seen kicking her...More
