An enormous shrine, but with crowds to match. Nevertheless, no visit to Matsue would be complete without a visit to the Yaegaki Shrine. Particularly noteworthy is the enormous woven rope that divides the "inner" from "outer" areas (depicted in the photo for this site). It...More

This shrine is really a good place to walk. Even though the distance is quite far from the station or the main street, it is worth going. You can enjoy the sights around as well. I went there when it was a bit raining, but...More

If you want to get married, it's the place to be. :) Yaegaki shrine is a famous place for match-making so many couples visit it. I loved the mirror pond inside the forest next to the shrine, such a peaceful place.

The shrine is popular due to the gods of "En musubi" and I saw there a lot of female visitors. I visited the famous wall pictures painted about 1100 years ago, showing the figures of 6 gods. I appreciated them. The entrance fee was 100...More

This shrine is modest. One of great god (Susano o no mikoto. Husband) & goddes (Inada hime. Wife) are enshrined. Famous as "Sacred power spot" especially for Japanese young women, because of belief that a good match will be coming if they pray there. If...More
