It is said that the Shrine is connected with the world of after death. The story is written in the oldest historical documents of Japan ''KOJIKI'' . I recommend to read KOJIKI, before your visiting.

If you're in Higashiizumo to see Yomotsu Hirasaka (the folkloric entrance to the underworld, Yomi) anyway, this is a very easy walk away from there. An Izanami shrine with an old, spooky atmosphere.
