Had a wonderful time there. Took a lot of photos: jumping, perspective photos. It was cloudy on the day we went, though I was grateful for it cuz otherwise we would be grilled to well done under a scortching sun. Suggestion: 1.) Must bring wind...More

Not expected such a big sand dune in Japan It has a great view. I would not try riding a camel in Japan. Good to walk around and take photo. Don't waste time to take the cable car/ ski lift.

Heated experience under the sun and finding a way to crawl up to sand dune top. Free rainboots are available so that you don't get sand into your shoes and leaving in embarassment. Sandboard activities and camel riding are available in good weather.

It is not as huge as expected but when weather is nice, still worth for a visit to walk around and take a close looks of the Japan Sea. The day that I visited has scattered rain and cloudy but still very hot. So if...More

A must-go sightseeing spot in Tottori. You could take the city bus at Tottori station to go there. It is so stunning and you could spend a whole morning there. You could not imagine how it could be formed there inside a city.

It is a walking distance when you go from the bottom to the top of the sand dune, and the view is magnificent, worthy to spend three hours there including lunch. The Japanese sashimi lunch at the tourism centre base hut there was reasonably priced...More

I always wanted to go Tottori dessert dune. Finally, made it and we've got lost because it was huge!!!

Tottori sand dune shows paradoxical blend of 3S namely sea, sand and snow. A nice place to witness the nature craftsmanship. A string of cable cars offers a nice panoramic view of the sandy scene in a bit adventurous way. A sure place to visit...More

Just seen your question. I would not know as I am not sure if they get snow? It was windy in August so I imagine it would be quite wild&rough. The coat line with cliffs a little further east looked interesting too. You... More

Apparently this 1,000 yen taxi will be 2,000 yen/ person taxi from April 2017. You can find more details on Tottori City's official website.
