This was a nice place to stop by to see the ocean/strait. It's a fair walk from the tram station, about 15-20 minutes. Cape Tachimachi is also accessible by car. The views from the cape are quite scenic!

Many know Hakodate for the seafood and the night view, but Tachimachi Cape is just that little piece of heaven. Sounds of crashing waves, unblocked views of beautiful blue waters and no crowds - there is a public bathroom, a little snack shop on the...More

Beware of the very slipper ice on the climb up through the cemetery if you visit in winter. The views of Hakodate to the north and Honshu to the south are breathtaking if the weather is kind to you. There are plenty of spots to...More

It is a walk of about a kilometre from the tram stop (Number 2) and it is uphill past an extensive cemetery but once there it is worth it. The views are good along the coastline and back towards the city. Well worth a visit...More

It takes ca. 15min walk from Yatsugashira tram station. Shimokita penninsula (the northernmost place of Honshu island) can be seen accross Tsugaru straight if sky is clear. I also saw Hakodate city center. It's possible to get to there all year-round, but walk carefully in...More

It can be quite windy and chilly so a warm sunny day is the best time to visit. Wonderful views down the Hakodate beach line. If the lady selling barbequed corn and squid is there do try some, very good.

A bit far away from the train station, but the view makes up for this. I came on a grey and rainy day, but it was amazing still.
