Classic train ride! Beautiful views of hakone with lots of tunnels. We sat at the front of the train and our kids loved it!

Included as part of the Hakone loop. The Tozan railway makes up a short portion of the trip and was enjoyable.

Good way to get from the bullet train at Odawara to Hakone, pleasant journey up the gentle incline, can be busy though. Certainly a contrast to the comfort and speed of the shinkansen!

It's part of the circuit that we took withh our Hakone Free Pass. That Pass gets you go onto almost all the transports so it's worth getting it. You get an great view of the town as it cruises up the mountain. Especially lucky this time cos we had fluffy snow .

We rode this train at Odawara using the Hakone Free Pass. A piece of advice for tourists is to buy the Hakone Pass at Shinjuku previous day itself. Though we reached Odawara early, the Hakone Pass issuing customer centre opens only at 10am and hence we had to wait for an hour or so. However, the Tozan Rail is a... More

These can get crowded and really packed depending on when you board. There are seats on these, but like any other train you can pack people in like sardines. The railways does this weird zigzag at some parts of the track, in which is changes directions and you could be riding backwards from the direction in which you were originally... More

It was interesting to see how the rail line handles the steep climb. Yes it was slow, but a good opportunity to relax and enjoy it. We were there mid winter so it wasn't too crowded - reading other reviews I don't think I'd enjoy it so much in the tourist season! We purchased the Hakone free pass, which was... More
