Efficient but touristy way of retracing your route without duplicating (e.g. bus one way, boat the other way).

The ship trip was the part of Hakone visit (which is pretty obvious trip for gaijin). We bought the Hakone pass on the Shinjuku station covering the ropeway, busses and ship. We walked to the shrine, the Hakone streets and took the ship. The weather...More

Recommend to be on the deck where you can see and feel like on the real pirate ship. It is the best place for the scenery as well.

We took the Hakone Ropeway from Sounzan down to Togendai-ko (see separate review) to take the Pirate Ship . Of coarse it is a must to take the Pirate ship across Ashi Lake . Even with all the tourists around you . They all want...More

Awesome experience even we didn’t have little kids to travel with, even it was chilly outside on the deck, we stayed almost the whole trip out in the front deck! It offers fantastic views of the lake, other ships as well as distant scenery

Nothing much on deck. With indoor door and outdoor sitting. Top deck is open and able to feel the smooth sailing on Lake Ashi. Only the First Class ticket holder enables you to go to the forward bow . Total duration 30mins .

This was a fun way to get to our hotel. Crossed the lake on this pirate ship. Nice view of the scenery from the lake. A lot more fun then taking the bus!

Basically packed with tourists and no place to sit. Even the priority seats are taken up by everyone else rather than the priorities. The view is jus the lake and the mountains of trees...nothing really exciting.

Still don't get the pirate ship thing, but it was a pleasant short trip across the lake. Unfortunately a very overcast day meaning a bit cool & windy on deck, no sighting of My Fuji & not much else to see. Lots of people on...More

Strange to find pirate ships in Japan. The kids will love this. Buy tickets at the pier. The ships run regularly and you have 2 stops. One takes you to the cable cars which take you up to the sulphur crater. Always plenty of eateries,...More

I have only been to Motohakone - a good selection of shops and a great restaurant/cafe that overlooks the lake. The boat usually stops at both - so you can do both if you have the time.
