I really enjoyed the Hakone Open-Air Museum and the gardens looked especially stunning under snow cover. The weather may affect what you think of the museum, so choose a nice, sunny day to go, especially if it's winter. The great collection of sculptures aside, the...More

A lovely thing to do and especially easy to get to as it's only a walk away if staying in Gora. Some thoughtful, clever and interesting art over a very large area, with a cafe and other comforts available. The Picasso section was a little...More

Get here early and in winter, rug yourself up. It's well worth it as there are some interesting exhibits for kids who can play on the sculptures quite safely. They may also like the foot bath. One sculpture has an area for older and younger...More

Wide spaces dotted with the most imaginative sculptures on hilly grass fields and between trees. This is a museum to go out of your way for.

If you have interests in Arts and have half a day to spend, you may wish to drop-by here. Lots of sculpture and there is a cafe where you can have a cup of coffee and relax.

I can fully and completely recommend a visit. i would say 2 to 3 hours will be well spend. I am not a fan of museums, in my opinion they rarely do justice to the art they possess. With some notable exceptions, Gugenheim in Venice,...More
