This is a nice adjunct to time spent in Yamashida Park. The cost is very reasonable (300yen for adults-- 2.75USD in 2017). There is a 27 min. film (in Japanese, with English subtitles). I didn't watch it as I had read many articles online regarding this ship so I can't say if it was good or bad. The tour is... More

Extremely well-preserved 1930`s luxury liner with art deco interior. Access to passenger cabins, communal lounges, deck, engine room. Excellent bilingual historical explanations.

This vessel is certainly worth a look if you have a spare hour in Yokohama. The Hikawa Maru has had a very interesting history. She was built in 1930 as a cargo/passenger liner on the Japan - Seattle run. You can visit all decks and the signage is very clear. It's interesting to see the different types of passenger accommodation... More

Being a naval and maritime history fan I really enjoyed this ship. I learned that Charlie Chaplin favored this ship because of it's tempera! Great perspective back in time to when these ships ruled the oceans and the luxury and style of the time. A great value 400 yen and I highly recommend this.

To get a feel of the colourful history and nostalgia this vessel invokes with so many people, be sure to watch the presentation first after purchasing your ticket, then explore at your own pace. Hikawamaru’s interior is a somewhat faded and old fashioned, but great considering her age. Her Art Deco features were classy and stylish in the 1930’s, her... More

We enjoyed visiting this liner turned museum. Being one of the few NYK liners to not be sunk during WWII, it serves as a good history lesson during it's sailing days from the early 20th century to after WWII. There is a companion NYK museum which should be visited together. there are also downloadable discount coupons on their website.

Although I didn't go into the ship, the outside view and looking up the history on Wikipedia was a good way to spend 30 minutes. Located right next to Yamashita park, there's good learning to be had!

Allways been interested on the sea and ships. This was a very interesting Place to visit and extremely cheap. Well worth to visit of you stop near by. Nice history and well arranged tour. You can see lots of things that you wouldn't in typical museum ships. Also tourists are take into a notice well. Lots of english guidance.
