Great starting pint for your visit to the mausoleum of Tokugawa Iemitsu. Visit early to beat the crowds otherwise you won't get a photograph without loads of people in it. Also the light early is incredible here.

So much detail, you can get lost in the stories they tell and forget all about fatigue, whining, and the mischief of the long road. I always look around for locals when visiting touristy places. This gate was mostly observed by locals, families and solo...More

I have never been so impressed as I have whilst visiting Yōmeimon. This gate and its artful design and architecture is extremely gorgeous and the most intricately constructed gate I have ever seen in my life. It was amazing! It's definitely an incredible sight to...More

The gate you will walk through when you visit the Toshogu shrine. Lucky me, the renovation is completed on the gate and I think it's the most beautiful shrine gates in Japan. Look closer and you can see the work is very detail.

While the exterior of the main gate is undergoing restoration, it is still incredible and there is plenty to see.

The gate itself is not visible due to the restoration underway. However, it is the entrance to the temple complex which is a must see when in Nikko.

The ongoing renovation at Toshogu Shrine should not stop you from visiting the complex. The Yomeimon Gate cannot be appreciated though at least for another couple of years I have been told.

When we visited the (Yomeimon) main gate was covered but still worth viewing all the surrounding buildings.

A ver impressive gate that is definitely a must-see in Nikko. The temple area behind the gate is very large, and you can spend quite some time exploring it :)
