It was an amazing view., but its best to go all up the end of the canal to appreciate it., when its too crowded you wont get the perfect sakura shot :)

If you want a great sakura spot that isn't very crowded then this is a great place to come. You can see the sakura line the Biwa cannel as it disappears into the mountainside towards Kyoto. It's also only a short walk up to Miidera...More

Here for Sakura and this site in Otsu does not disappoint. Outstanding blooms in a serenity setting with temples as a backdrop. Off the beaten path a bit and about 15 min by JR from Kyoto.
