This place has everything!! The place is HUGE! Get all your shopping done here! There are luxury brands as well as local brands. Some comes with tax free. About 15 minutes walk from the main train station. If you are feeling lazy, there are many buses that come this way. Many choices of food. If you shop till late, Canal... More

A very typical shopping mall with both Japanese brands and brands you can probably find in your home country. There are sometimes performances in the centre.

We went to Canal City because they were having Stadium Ramen where the top 10 ramen were serving their ramen. Stadium Ramen will tour the rest of Japan but we were lucky they were there when we were. We only got to try 2 out of the 10. We liked one of the 10. We didn't have enough time to... More

The good tenant mix can keep a shopper in for hours. Enjoy the water landscaping and the wide range of restaurants and cafes. The fountain animation was engaging and interesting, brings out the child in us. A nice mall if you have at least a couple of hours to spare.

Canal city is located within walking distance from the 2 main stations - Hakata and Tenjin. But I feel this still fell short of those 2 main shopping stations. It's not as crowded on weekdays, and if you're staying nearby, there are more shops outside of the canal city that are interesting. Even the main ichiran is just outside of... More

This is cleverly done with a series of linked buildings offering everything from shopping to restaurants, a cinema complex and a performance place. It is a leisurely 10 minute walk from Hakata station

Canal City Hakata is a huge shopping complex with many shops and eateries. Can be quite confusing to move around. Has a musical fountain display every 30 minutes which is quite entertaining.

But it is different in that getting around is more confusing than in the normal big box. The fountains are a nice distraction and the architecture is certainly fun.
