After a 15 minute ferry ride - and a 5 minute walk you arrive at the free foot bath. (Not to be confused with another foot bath in a hotel nearby - but you have to pay plus it is a plunge pool). It wasn't crowded the day we were there so it was nice and peaceful. The water was... More

It is the best foot bath I have ever seen. You can soak your feet in Onsen water, while taking a marvelous view of Kinko Bay. And it is free! You should absolutely visit this site!

I had a great time relaxing here. A note - as you get further from the water inlet, the water cools off. If the temperature doesn't feel right, you can always move.

This is a public foot bath, not completely sheltered. Due to the fact that it was raining when I was there, even the sheltered seats were partially soaked. Overall a great experience, just be sure to bring your own towel and prepare to soak in warm water up to your calf area.

I think that the footbathes offers a good opportunity to introduce a part of Japanese onsen culture to the visitors from foreign countries. In addition, surprisingly, it is very long! Rare, unusual, uncommon! I was amazed at the sight. Also the scenery is beautiful.

It was 100m long, one of the longest foot spa in Japan. Only 10min walking distance from the pier. This was one of the high-light of visiting Sakurajima. Remember to wear mask to screen off the volcano ashes. Occasionally, I took mask off for photo shooting but found myself grinding sand like ashes in between teeth after a while. Tips:... More

Located on Sakurajima Island opposite the visitors centre for memory this a public footbath which utilizes hot springs from the volcano itself in a series of long stylish granite troughs. We visited in December 2013 after taking the bus tour of the island and really enjoyed it. It is free and located within walking distance of the Ferry terminal on... More

After a walk on the lava trail this is the perfect place to relax. The water is tepid but still nice for tired feet. We were there on November 7 and there were very few people around. We enjoyed a few laughs with a small group of elderly Japanese that eventually arrived and they offered to take our photo. No... More

I had read about this place but expected it to be overrun by megaphone guided Japanese tour groups and, be totally tacky and commercialized. Instead, it was peaceful, stylish, beautifully built and maintained and nearly empty when we were there at 5pm. You can sit and soak your feet in the warm water (not hot or sulphery) and watch the... The foot baths are within walking distance from the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal, as long as you follow the signs to the visitor center, you can find it. There are rows of foot baths w/ wooden benches that overlook the ocean towards Kagoshima City, and the park where the foot baths are located has an excellent view of Mount Sakurajima, which... More
