As we had a rental car, we were a bit worried of finding our way to and at the ferry terminal. In hindsight, such worries were not justified. The signage is very clear, and both embarkation and disembarkation processes are well organized and efficient.

We rented a car in Kagoshima and took the ferry across to Sakurajima. Boarding was easy, just drive straight on and pay the fare on arrival in Sakurajima

The ferry fee is included in the all day tour pass with Sakurajima Island View Bus ride. It is very nice short trip with nice view.

Loved it. Fast and nice. Easy buying tickets. Vending machines and cafe on board. Do your trip on a sunny day and sit on deck. Refreshing.

Definitely worth the trip, it is pretty cheap 160¥. It is a large vessel with aircondtioned inside. 15 minute ride and they go every 15 minutes. The visitors centre is about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the port.

The ferry runs every 10 to 15 minutes and is a short ride to Sakurajima. Once a day a longer version takes you around the bay with a chance to see dolphins.

Fast and orderly, you will experience the Japanese way of work here although you may not speak the language. Ice cream on the ferry was quite good.

Yes, I found it was the best among the others. Best view of Sakurajima Mountain, comfortably seat and clean.
