The Japanese garden I started to make than 1963. In area of about 73,000 square meters and it is a compact in which it is said that Japan's largest garden, rich in spring water from Mt. Aso, and has created a world of different dimension to the urban space. Landscape, is also said to have reproduced the landscape of the Tokaido, including Fuji Gojusantsugi.

We made an impulse decision to go into the garden and it was definitely worth it. It's absolutely stunning. There's so much to see, we spent much longer than expected walking around. There are places to sit and take in the views, and there's a...More

If you are in Kumamoto or a neighbor prefecture, you must go to this beautiful garden. I was there when it was raining and cold whether, however it was good because there are not many tourists and I could enjoy better. Go to the tea...More

Beautiful garden with lots of cherry blossoms and a large pond. I spent an hour here but wished I stayed a little longer. Very serene and gorgeous. Highly recommended.

Spent a relaxing hour at Suizenji-koen. Really small so don’t expect too much. It is well maintained with an abundance of well fed koi fish of various colors. Several shops for shopping and refreshments are there as well. Nice place for a leisurely stroll. Was...More

May want to beg to differ when it is mentioned as one of the top three Japanese gardens, because it is pretty small. Otherwise, the park is well maintained and beautiful, with people having picnics under the sakura trees. Honestly, i won't travel all the...More

As I love Japanese gardens I of course went to Suizenji Jojuen Garden too when I visited Kumamoto. It's a nice design, it give a good background for pictures. I have spent several hours there, walking, taking pictures, reading in the shade. Definitely not a...More

Hidden in a suburb, a surprisingly refreshing tranquil garden experience. You will see ducks, cranes, really huge carp. The beautifully manicured trees are probably attractive all year round, but I think best appreciated in spring (we were here in winter). A good experience nonetheless and...More

The garden is easily accessible with the street tram. It costs 400 yen to enter and it is a small garden. I went during December, where there no flowers blooming, but it was still quite pleasant.

We visited this garden during our stay in Kumamoto. It is very well layed out and well maintained, perhaps a bit too civilized. But as a formal garden it is very good. The original part is a genuine Japanese garden and over the years has...More
