The Aoshima Island is a must see for first time visitors. The small island is surrounded by natural rock formations known as “devil’s washboard”. When you walk across the bridge to the island, you can choose to follow the round the island path on either...More

The volcanic rock formations are unusual, in a similar vein to the Giants Causeway in Antrim in Ireland. The shrine on the island nothing special. However the wooden train that leaves from Miyazaki is worth booking and taking.

It was a cold but wonderfully sunny Christmas Day when we visited which made it just perfect. We loved the ambience in the temple and really liked wandering across the fascinating rock formations, the devil's washboard. We took countless photos of the red torii gate...More

Very cool to be able to get to the island by way of a walk bridge. Interesting exhibits and some items for sale.

we walked here to take a look at the shrine on the island but found that the real draw was actually the "devil's washboard" surrounding the island! we woke up really early to catch the sunrise and it was a great and interesting view.

A nice walk on a clear day across the bridge to the island. Have a close-up look at what the locals call "The Devil's Washboard" along the way. The island is a quiet stroll through nature unless you are part of a large tour group.

The drive along the Nicheman coast afforded amazing views of the Pacific Ocean before we reached Aoshima. The walk from here across the bridge to the Island was relaxed and enjoyable. The view of the ground level rock formations formed by nature on either side...More

Make sure to not miss the devil's washboard when it's low tide. Most tourist groups seem to just see the shrine, but while you are there it's just short walk around the whole island.

此処は日南海岸国定公園内で、かつ神社庁の管轄内なので決められた範囲以外は立ち入り禁止の様です。その為キャンプ等は禁止られていますし、火を焚くことも当然出来ません。残念でしょうが、理解しましょうね。
