Was amazed at how many monkeys there were, and they walk right past you and interact with each other without a care for people walking around. There were literally hundreds of little monkey, the baby ones were the cutest.

It was really cool to see all the monkeys and they were really cute, but when the monkeys didn't behave, the staff hit the monkey with a hat and even kicked the monkey. Don't go!

Whilst we only spent a short time here, the pure experience of going to a mountain to see tonnes and tonnes of monkeys in action is probably worth the ticket price. We were also lucky to visit when the zookeepers were feeding the monkeys and...More

A lovely visit for children. We took the tram ride up the mountain and it was so lovely to see families of monkeys and the cute baby monkeys living happily. Beware: Be careful of things in your hands as one of the monkeys snatched my...More

This is for sure an educational experience for those who like to learn about the life of primates, especially the Japanese Monkeys that are all over Japan and are considered a nuisance in many parts of Japan. It was good to see these 3 colonies...More

I have been to the Takasakiyama Natural Zoo on four occasion between 1990 and 2016. If you are in Beppu or Oita and are into monkeys don't miss this place. One word of advice, the monkeys are wild animals and will attack you if you...More
