Nice island

We were there for the Setouchi Triannale and I found the island is very charming, it is very nice for a half day excursion, combined with Ogijima for example.

I came to this island for the Setouchi Triennale 2016. I chose to include this island in my tour because of the Momotaro folktale, which as a kid, I have heard for a lot of times. The island itself is small, and is mostly walkable. We walked up to the Orges' cave, which was quite a scenic hike, but if... More

We visited as part of the Setouchi Triennial Festival. However, I have no idea if the exhibits are still maintained after the festival is over. The island itself is quaint and not heavily developed. The exhibits ranged from amazing (the mirrors) to the cheesy (the theater). But it was fun and the folks were beyond friendly. An easy ferry ride... More

This is the third island of Seto inland sea we visited on this trip. Since it is very close to Takamatsu, only about 25 mins by ferry, although it was not on our plan to visit. Upon we arrived and found out the bus service was not operated, we guess because of small number of tourist, the staff who managed... More

Most people will head up to the cave quickly come down and take a ferry to Ogijima so they can do both island in a day before returning to Takamatsu. You can do that too. Or if you want to slow down the pace and forget time, it's nice to stay a night on the island, gaze at the stars... More

We loved all the art works here when we visited as part of the Setouchi festival in late July. Had a relaxing ferry trip over from Takamatsu and a lovely walk around. If we had known we would have brought swimming clothes as there were a number of visitors escaping the heat in the sea.

Did not get a lot of information before going there. One should prepare to go swimming if you get onto the island. It looks like Okinawa. We did not have swimwear and just had a very nice lunch at Beach Cafe.

Loved Megijima for the Setouchi Triennale. A shop stop from Takamatsu port and a great island to ramble around. So deserted but full of life as well. The art works are great. Not sure they are open all year round but during the Setouchi well worth a visit. Less high-art than Naoshima but just as thrilling.

I easily explored this island on foot (it is about twice the size as Ogijima). The somewhat steep yet pleasant road leading up to Washigamine Lookout was better on foot than bike (unless you had an electric-assist bike). The views from the top were amazing - Seto Inland Sea and numerous islands. Back near the port there is an interesting... More

This island is relatively modest but has an interesting historical cave sight and during the summer has a choice of places to eat and drank at beside the sea. Small but a 20 minutes hop from Takamatsu, and a good way to experience a taste of the Inland Sea.
