The museum is dedicated to the memory of Sakamoto Ryoma however, it appears to be designed basically for Japanese speakers (and readers) as little information is provided in English. There is a reconstruction of the room where Ryoma and his companion where assassinated complete with replicas of the blood stained scroll and byoubu originally in that room. Found that a... More

I decided to go to the museum for many reasons. The first one is because I like the Japanese culture and history, especially the shogun/samurai period. There you can find a lot of documents about Sakamoto Ryoma but unless you can read old Japanese paper, it's kinda difficult to enjoy fully the tour. You received only few information in English.... Unfortunately most of the museum was in Japanese, other than that it is quite small, although there is a nice view from the top floor. They also have free wifi. We visited as part of a Kochi Castle trip from Princess Cruises and I think that this part was added as a bit of a filler to justify the extortionate... More

Not really worth spending too much time here unless you're super interested but you do get a good level of backstory around Satamotos part in the Meiji restoration.

It was just average for us as the museum is focused on letters and newspaper articles, all in Japanese. So if you can't read Japanese you won't get much out of it. There is an English pamphlet available but it won't give you a deeper understanding of Ryoma. The view from the roof is nice though. Discounted entry with the... More
