Overall the aquarium was good, I just thought the tank enclosures seemed a bit small. They had all kinds of fish along with seals, penguins and dolphins. I appreciate the fact they had the fish information in English as well. The aquarium included dolphin shows, a place where the kids could touch some fish, and a place to feed the... More

After having visited many aquariums in Japan over the years, I can say that this one rivals many of the great smaller aquariums we have visited (the aquarium on Miyajima comes to mind). The exhibits are nicely presented and the indoor dolphin/sea lion show was fantastic, with an impressively large pool for an indoor aquarium. There is no English on... More

This is by far the worst aquarium I have ever been to. It started off good with the amphibian exhibits but went downhill after that. Most of the tanks/exhibits were too small, overcrowded and boring for the fish/mammals . You can actually see depressed fish here.

I had read mixed reviews on the aquarium and was pleasantly surprised. The price was affordable, there was a good selection of well displayed fish and sea life, and a nice dolphin show which our two year old loved. Some of the creatures in the touch tanks looked as though they'd taken a bit of a beating but that was... More

Quite a small aquarium, price reasonable. Cute dolphins and sea lions. Dolphin and animals feeding was available but not the dolphin show.

Good aquarium for a quick excursion. Takes about an hour to go through if you take your time. The dolphin show is not up and running at the moment.

A basic but well done aquarium, its worth the trip to Asamushi which is a short train trip from Aomori. Please note that there is a package ticket you can buy from A Building, which covers the observatory, a city movie & Aquarium. From Asamushi, its a short walk. The best show is the Dolphin show and the feeding of... More

The aquarium is small but very fun for small children. Older kids may get bored because after the dolphin show, everything else is just "ok".... On a side note, the dolphins look abused and their tanks are too small. Tortoises are cool.

If you don't know by now, Aomori is famous for scallops. They are harvested in Mutsu Bay. The scallops there have an intense, sweetish scallop flavor. What makes Hakodate the dried scallop capital of Japan is because the scallops probably derive from nearby Aomori. Whenever I'm in the Aomori area, I eat scallops every day. You don't have to eat... I am not sure I am a fan of caged (or "tanked" in this case) animals, but I didn't hate this aquarium. Some of the displays are well put together. But others disturbed me. Last time I visited (for the sake of the kids) there was a huge king crab in a tank that just barely fit. Yikes. And there... More
