The best place to shop fresh seafood and local speciality food in Aomori. Located at the basement level, B1 of Auga Building, across from JR Aomori Station, where hundreds of stores sell fresh seafood, deli, and dry seafood, and locally packaged food. Please remember not to haggling with the store owners; their prices are already much lower than Ameyoko in... More

Disappointing. Stalls selling local products like dried/ fresh seafoods etc. Typical wet market. We visited the place on 6 Jan, not all the stalls are opened. Dried seafoods are relatively cheaper here.

This is an amazing experience for someone quite unused to eating raw seafood. It is one thing to say you have eaten sashimi at a high class Japanese restaurant but this market provided a very different taste and view. For 1080 yen is provided with a set of tickets. The tickets are used to purchase individual selections of a variety... More

If you want to buy Aomori products, you can go to the train stations, ASPAM, or here (plus it supports local vendors). We bought scallop snacks and Aomori apple products here. Note: the scallops are surprisingly expensive, 1000 Yen for a small bag of fried scallops.

Basically, you make your very own bowl of sashimi with rice! You can buy tickets, 10 tickets for 1080yen. 1 ticket for a bowl of rice and you can roam around the fish market and select the ingredients you want. They have a very wide selection of fish, all priced at differently. For instance, salmon, tuna was 1 stamp each.... More

This is a great place for sampling produce from a mixture of places. The idea is that you buy a bowl of rice and a book of stamps (5 or 10). You simply use the stamps as currency to buy sushimi and other items from various stalls. It is great and very popular with the locals.

I was expecting a really busy and crowded market and was pleasantly surprise by the cleanliness and neatness of the place. I love the shops there and the items are reasonably priced. This makes it a good place to buy omiyage or food stuff souvenir for friends and family, which I did. I love the dried octopus strips from here!

We have visited the seafood market which was located at the basement level of a Departmental Store along the main road in front of JR Station. There were shopstalls selling fresh seafood as well as dried seafood products. For the supply of fresh seafood here, you need to be early because most of the stock would be sold out in... More

We arrived about 3:30pm on a Saturday and almost all the fresh fish had been sold or put away. It would be much better to visit here early in the morning. My photos showed what was left and other goods.

This is an interesting place to go in Aomori, not a big place but I think quite unique with a friendly and kind people.
