It is a great spot for Cherry Blossom viewing in late April. The pink weeping cherries are especially beautiful. It is about 20 to 25 min walk from the Morioka train station. On the way, you will pass by a lot of shops and restaurants.

We walked amongst the high stone walls or ramparts and it was a quiet and peaceful experience. There is a sense of history, but not too much to see. I would not allocate too much time for this visit.
