We came up here to see the lakes and take a stroll around. The main lake is a bit mobbed but if you go a bit further up then it is quiet and pleasant.

Get ready for a heavenly experience away from the city and away from mobile range :) The terrain is mountain so be ready for long difficult walks. Get climbing shoes or ride horses.Six hours ride from Almaty.

Hi, Unfortunately I do not think there is an easy way to get there from Almaty by public transport. It is around a 5 hour drive from the city and the roads require a 4x4 vehicle.

We lived near there and had no problems! Avoid places with cattle and don't sit in long grass. You should be fine, I heard nothing about rock born encephalitis and barely saw ticks
