I visited there taking 1 hour by motorbike from Sabaki, the north of Malindi. Mysterious and weird landscape with naked layer of earth. Enjoyed hiking in almost desert area surrounded in green forest, under strong sunshine. Great scene from the top of cliff. Be more careful of sun burning than seaside in Malindi. The story that the guide told us... More

I've been told it's the Grand Canyon of Kenya and wasn't really sure what to expect. It was about an hour from our resort (which is about 20 minutes north of Malindi town). The roads are rough, so suggest a car with higher clearance. Once you arrive, you can walk around and into the canyon and out in about an... More

We were in Malindi and decided to follow the recommendations of Kenya (Lonely Planet) volume. It was mentioned that this was a mini "Gran Canyon", and frankly speaking this was as close as the truth as it could be. Some of the stones, when you crush them they give you three different colors. Amazing place. Worth the drive/ride. Make sure... More

About an hours drive from where we were staying at Mwembe Resort but well worth the drive. I recommend you take a tour van or go with locals otherwise you may think you're lost. Amazing landscape and folklore explain the natural formation of Marafa Hell's Kitchen. This is ancestral land and its managed by the local community who charge a... More

It was really beautiful and we had a nice walk! If you're lucky you can even see monkeys. It is a 1,5 hour drive but worth it.

It's a long dusty drive from Malindi Town, honestly I thought it a wasted trip while my companions were enthralled. Bought a very nice wooden bowl in the ad hoc gift shop and listen to the local bargain over the ticket price to go in. Amusing day all in all, but I still don't rate the site ....

I was a little nervous when I read the other reviews about the bad road, but once we headed out, I realized it's a typical Africa packed dirt road. Not great, but certainly not terrible. The drive does take about a hour from the main road. The views of life outside of "touristy areas" is worth the trip to remind... More

The road to get there is really bad mostly during rain season. To do if interested to see some traditional ( and really poor) villages along the road. A taste of real africa but the hells kitchen are not the impressive. But nice

The landscape is gorgeous and super fascinating. I highly recommend to visit! We had a very nice guide who was a local. A visit here will also benefit the local community and they offer you the opportunity to donate books or other necesites to the community.
