Beautiful mosque in Alor Setar
Jan 2020
For me, this is the most beautiful mosque in Alor Setar. It is located in the heart of Alor Setar. The design is unique. There is a huge space in front of this mosque. During Ramadhan, a lot of people will bring their food and break the fast at the open space in front of this mosque.

One of the most beautiful mosques I have ever visited
Apr 2019
I was really impressed with the architecture of this mosque. It's so unique and beautiful, I had the opportunity to perform the Zuhr prayer, and I feel like very calm. For Muslims who were coming to Alor setar, please do not miss the chance to come and pray at this mosque. Although the mosque has been built for a long time ago, it is very well kept and really clean.

Malay & Indo-Islamic style mosque
Feb 2020
The Masjid Zahir is the state mosque of Kedah with a striking mix of Mudejar and Indo-Islamic architectural style. The colour scheme of two tone black and white really makes the building stand out. The five black painted domes, a large one surrounded by four smaller domes represent the five pillars of Islam are especially striking for the way it contrasts against the white of the rest of the building

Unique and historical mosque in Alor Setar
Jan 2019
The most unique and historical mosque in Alor Setar. Its situated beside main road and not far from Alor Setar Tower and Aman Central Mall. This Mosque is an icon for Alor Setar city. A beautifully designed mosque especially at night with all the lights. It is one of the grandest and oldest mosques in Malaysia, having been built in 1912.This mosque has been voted as one of the top 10 most beautiful mosques in the world.

You can’t help but stand in front of the mosque and admire its moorish architecture. It is fascinating. It is breathtaking especially when the sun is setting. Located in the heart of downtown.

Pretty nice and serene mosque in the heart of historic Alor Star
Jul 2019 • Solo
Masjid Zahir is a mosque design after Masjid Azizi in Northern Sumatra and was built by Tunku Mahmud Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Mukarram Shah in 1912 on the former resting site of the fallen Kedah warriors during the Siamese invasion in 1821.

The masjid ground is opened to public, very serene and nice to appreciate the lovely architecture. Shoes are to be removed if you want to enter the masjid.

Good place to spend a good 15-20 minutes to walk the ground for some nice photos.
