Super nice, clean beach with no jellyfish. You can rent two loungers and an umbrella for 40 ringit (about 8 euros) per day. Parking is free. You can also rent a boat to go into the mangroves across the street. You can also rent a kayak right on the beach.

Another amazing stay at the Tanjung Rhu. We stayed here in the early post-covid days and promised ourselves we'd return.
Total bliss and chilled out from start to finish, with the troubles of everyday life drifting away with the tide.
The staff here are so friendly, the facilities are great, the local public beach has now opened back up just along the beach. This doesn't detract from the privacy, but does allow you to hop over for some local food or to organise some water sports etc.

Perfect in every way. It is an idyll. A crescent of a white sand beach coconut palms and pine trees. Crystal clear turquoise sea with amazing warm water that is shallow enough to wade out into for 200m and a lovely sandy bottom. The view out into the Andaman sea is simply gorgeous and dotted with forested headlands and impossibly beautiful islets and rocky outcrops All this makes this one of the most perfect places. There are little beach huts and some small shacks/shops and simple restaurants set around a rough car park just off the beach but these are not intrusive and somehow appropriate to this slightly charmingly underdeveloped place. Some boat tours do board and deposit passengers on the beach but this adds to the colour and they are in and out very quickly and again they seem appropriate as they are the fast little brightly coloured vessels that are typical of the area. The slightly primitive beach bars serve great chilled juices and coconut shakes and you can also hire decent loungers and shades if you want them. The only downside which is a personal choice is that you can rent quad bikes which are a pet hate of mine on beaches. I went when it was quite quiet and was lucky that it was almost empty of people but if you get lucky this place is Amazing. Nearby is the Tangjung Rhu resort which is beautiful and set right in the heart of this fabulous beach. Definitely want to stay here next time. Imagine stepping out onto that beach every day!!!

The once beautiful beach has now been ruined by the noise and made dangerous to swim in the sea by the two operators on the beach now offering jet ski hire and tours directly from the beach. The dangerous antics of the people from both businesses means that as you are swimming, they and their customers come so fast towards the beach and so close to you that we had to leave the water. Despite knowing it is illegal [the hotel next to the beach has informed both operators] for the jet skis to manoeuvre in the water where people swimming may be, the operators laughed at us and then proceeded to speed up and down when we told them to not come so close to us (there were also local children in the sea near us) as we were very concerned about being hit by one of their jet skis. They also just 'parked' their jet skies in the sea (not anchored) and so these just floated towards the shore with no control as to where they went. It's only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured by the immature and irresponsible people who run these activities. Sadly, we will not return to our once favourite beach in Langkawi which is the only reason we visit the island to relax. The Langkawi Development Agency states that one of its strategies is to make '4. Strategy 4 – Rebranding Langkawi as a safe, clean, and sustainable destination' - then it best take a look at these operators!

We had an afternoon to spend before our flight at 10:30 PM as decided to take grab taxi from airport to Tanjung Rhu beach. We reached at 5:30 PM as requested the vendor for chairs to sit on and he said they close at 5 PM. That is one thing I found in Malaysia that places shut pretty early, so we walked and found a fallen tree to sit on. The sunset was spectacular however the water was not the best to swim in. so I spent time sitting and watching the sunset. Once the sunset at 7:25 PM, we headed out to call grab and had to wait 30 mins for it.
There was a youth that asked if we were ok and needed a ride but our grab was accepted during that time. He was originally from Germany but settled in Kuala Lumpur and visiting Langkawi, Good people still exist in the world, god bless him

Came back for 20yr anniversary as married here. Stayed for meal at restaurant…which was a mistake. Service is very very slow. We ordered and drinks took 15 mins, then food took over an hour to be served. 10 other tables very frustrated.

Real shame as resort looks great but service is terrible. Recommend go elsewhere.

I remember this beach being really nice and quiet but it looks like modernity has caught up. They have quad bikes operating from the beach. Quad bikes being driven on the beach by untrained tourist - isn’t that dangerous? Plus a quad bike every few mins creating so much noise and fumes. There is a volleyball net on the beach which you can use but other people might get annoyed. On the positive side, there are lots of shops there where you can buy food and drinks or book tours. There is a small group that do foot massage. The beach loungers are expensive but you can haggle with them. If you want to walk down left of the beach you get stopped by a security guard who says that part belongs to a hotel; you can walk along waterline but not too beach.

Shocking experience. We booked suites which involve climbing 6 flights of steps to get to. Dirty room, even with toothpaste left on mirror and walls from previous guests. The food is horrendous, inedible and very limited. The chefs table restaurant is like a cafeteria with no dress code. People even walking in off the beach with floaty toys. TV in rooms dont have any channels other than about 6 old movies. We left after a day and went to four seasons which is 5 minutes away, which was an amazing resort, wonderful facilities and the food was amazing.

Went on a windy day and so there was a cooling on-shore breeze. Made for a few waves on the beach and there was an out-going tide with a rip, so not ideal for swimming, Relatively clean, but the neighbouring jetty for the mangrove tours was disgusting, full of rubbish along the shoreline. A massive cleanup is needed, an embarrassment.

read some reviews that this beach is private but fret not! it's accessible. We went around 5pm to catch sunset and it was low tide, saw many people walked towards the sea to mini islands/ rock formations in the middle of the sea. Need to alert and watch the tide level as it went up to waist level approaching 7pm. Make sure you make back to the shore before!
