What an amazing sight! These fireflies are true natural wonders and a must see.. at Min firefly garden as the hosts are warm, welcoming and very well informed. A great overall experience.

I went there 14th Aug but river water was low, so we did the walking to see the fireflies. But halfway rain pour. We canceled the trip and went back to hotel. I was told later that the rest of the tourists (from Spain ) did go to see the fireflies after the rain and surpringly they saw the fireflies though after raining.
I went there again on 16th Aug. This time i saw the fireflies that staying on trees! We saw them from far.

Kayaking at night was fun but the number of fireflies was rather disappointing. There were only about 15 fireflies...

Guide mentioned that firefly season is from march to october but i visited in April... 😞

Staff were nice though.

Most amazing place with Bees and Fireflies. You can get food, wifi, honey. You can stay too and commune with wonderful people from all over the world.

So rowing in a kayak was a new nice experience, and watching the fireflies at night is fun, can't deny. What made me hate that place was that English old guide - or whatever he is- named Simone. So rude and arrogant. It's not like we're going this trip on his own expense, we paid and paid well to be treated well, not be told to shut up.

A very special experience. Able to do some kayaking in the small river watching the fireflies at the trees along the river bank. As a reminder 1) you might get a little bit wet while kayaking 2) prepare some mosquito repellent 3) do choose days that the moon is not so bright for better watching effects. Lastly, enjoy the performances by this magnificent creatures.

Honestly speaking, the way to the place was so dark and scary. The first time me and my friends tried to get there at around 10 pm but we are unable to do so because of the surrounding are so dark. So we tried going there a day after when there was still sunlight shining in order to get used to the road. The guide was so kind and he sometimes speak Malay with us (as we are the only locals there. the others are foreign tourists).
My advises for those who are planning to get here are;
1. Please call them in advance before you go there.
2. Please do not go during full moon. Me and my friends wanted to ride the boat to see the fireflies but during full moon the river get shallow.
3. The place is around 30 minutes drive from Kota Bharu.
4. If you take the boat trip, the cost will be RM10, but if you take the walking trip the cost will be only RM5.

This was the best thing to do in Kota Bahru! I love the tour, and our guide was very sweet. It was very cool to see how the fire flies lid up the trees.

You must do this tour when you visited Kota Bahru. Definately recommend it!

An unforgettable experience. My trip here happened more by chance than anything, but i'm so glad i went.

What it is is a boat trip that lasts about half an hour, at night so from around 7pm until 11pm, along a river where trees are lit up by fireflies.

It was really spectacular to see it and something that i'll never forget. It was so captivating watching what was really one of nature's spectacles. My trip consisted of two weeks in Malaysia and Singapore and this was definitely one of the highlights.

The tour guide was brilliant as well. Very chatty and knowledgeable about the topic and enthusiastic too.

Some useful info:
-If you call the number on the profile you can organise to go even that same evening.
-Small groups are catered for (there were two of us)
-Try to get good directions before going there. Our taxi driver got lost and our 15-minute journey turned into a 40-minute one. Best to establish (and haggle) price before.
-The people there speak English.
-You don't have to stay in the accommodation there to go on the boat journey.
-Best weather is when the sky is overcast so that there's little natural light and the flies can be seen more clearly.
-Cost was 10 ringgit per person.
-If you have a good night time camera you should bring it. It was impossible to get anything decent with a phone camera and flash is not allowed.

thanks for review and we are happy to hear that you and your friend was happy with the trip, we are trying to remove the mud in the river so the tour can be closer and we can use traditional long tail boat, environment friendly without the petrol engine. thanks again cheers. aiman

The fireflies tour was very quick and easily arranged, the lady from the Min House Camp replied very quickly to my emails about the tour.

Once we arrived we were warmly greeted and offered drinks while we waited on the tour to commence. Our guide was a very nice local young man who knew all the ins and outs of the area. We watched the fireflies in awe from our motorized boat and got bonus info on the other animals and fisheries activities in the surrounding area.

Would definitely recommend this tour, and the price (10 ringgit per person) is another reason to just go and experience it yourself.

Note: the area is not so easily accesible by public transportation so I would recommend a cab.
