We were very hungry from all that shopping. Besides, we have not eaten lunch & it was already close to 5:00 pm. My partner had seen a Secret Recipe signage outside the Parkson Kota Bahru Trade Centre building & commented that our meal will be at that restaurant. We walked a short distance from the car & arrived shortly thereafter. The Secret Recipe restaurant looked deserted as we were the only dine-in customers at that point of time. We followed the SOP before entering by noting down our particulars & body temperature. We ordered our meal & waited. However, the staff had misunderstood me & given me the wrong order while my partner’s order was correct. Hence, I had to wait even longer. When the correct order arrived, it was not up to my expectation. It did not look fresh & I was not happy with the taste. But I ate it anyway as I was just so hungry & didn’t want to wait a second more. While busy eating, we could hear the cries of a cat. We could not figure out where it was coming from. The staff were also bewildered. We left shortly & walked around the building. It was very dark inside & many shops weren’t opened. I asked a security guard about it & was informed that recently there had been a fire in the building & most shops had been affected by it. My partner wanted to check out Parkson as the departmental store was having a sale. We followed the SOP & were given entry. A few sandals which I wanted were selling at a good price but when I thought of the tight space in my luggage, I decided not to make the purchase. There were also a couple of handbags which had caught my eye for a friend’s oncoming birthday. Sadly, I had to abandon the idea. We left shortly & I kept on hearing the cries of a cat. I was shocked to find a cat at the building’s damaged open ceiling. It could not find its way down from the high ceiling. I was pretty upset about it as it must have gone without food for days. Since I could not wait any longer & had to leave, I had informed a cleaner, a security guard & a staff from Secret Recipe about it. They had promised to look into it. I was just so relieved that the workers were quite helpful. I do hope that they had kept to their promise & rescued the cat.

I really try not to write negative reports but Parksons Trade Centre is going through some hard times. The supermarket, Giant, is closed down and although Parksons is a decent department store, there is little else. I feel sorry for some of the shop owners because it was quite quiet when I visited. Still, there is Mr DIY, Secret recipe, shoe shops and others there.

Mall is closed from 12 to 2.30pm for prayers on Friday. Average shopping mall with rather expensive prices(In my opinion)

A great location to take a rest after visiting attraction points around the town. A lot of retail and F&B outlets in the mall with reasonable price
