Not being prepared enough for this, we stopped part way up and really enjoyed the ascent and the views.

My Australian Group of 5 pax enjoyed themselves. Early morning is the best to go to this place and you can find many people trekking so the chances of getting lost is remote but stay in course. And don’t venture too far away from the normal route. A map can be obtained from most of the Hotels or from tourist information centre

Hi there, I’m a full-time traveller that stayed twice in Cameron Highlands for several weeks. I walked every single trail here, and realized there’s an incredible amount of incorrect information and confusion out there. Times are incorrect, trail info incorrect (even on the signs), and people (incl. the local tourism office) seems to be unclear of trail names and which exist and which ones don’t.
So, I made it my goal to walk each and every one of them and made many notes. A full hiking guide including an entirely updated map (+ other info on transportation / accommodation / food / other activities / traveling the Cameron Highlands for FREE) can be found on the site that is my username + /cameron-highlands (links will get blocked here).
Here is the trail info for TRAIL 1:
Trail info: Everyone told me that this trail had been closed off, and that it’s now inaccessible. True, they did close it off at the top, and you could turn around and simply do the same hike both up and down… or you can do a bit of trespassing and rule-breaking, which I always thoroughly enjoy. I even brought a towel to climb the barbed wire more easily and comfortably: A well-prepared rebel!
Beginning & end: The trail starts at the top of the Brinchang village, as you can find on the offline map of Maps.me. From the principal road take a left, then take a right on the Y-section. Opposed to what blogs and TripAdvisor reviews state, you do not need to enter the water facility. You can walk up the hill side on the right just before the water facility (as you can see on Maps.me) and then simply follow the pipeline until the trail becomes obvious. If you see some kind of tree hut, you're on the right trail. From there it slightly deviates from the Maps.me route, but you can follow the ribbons. It ends at the mountain top of Gunung Brinchang where you have to walk past a fence and later on climb a gate just before the Mossy Forest entrance, so you need to be a bit cautious and sneaky. If you get caught, just play stupid-tourist-who-doesn’t-speak-English. The Mossy Forest is an overpriced tourist trap and is only interesting if you want to continue to Mount Irau (the second Trail 14 - you ‘officially’ need a permit and guide for this one). You can simply walk or hitchhike back down the (long!) road to Kea Farm, passing the stunning Boh tea fields. [see below photo slide show on the left]
Experience / Level of difficulty: This is a trail how it’s meant to be. Beautiful, ‘jungle-ey’ and adventurous, with plenty of views. You’ll notice chunks of the trail has disappeared due to landslides, but new trails have formed to circle around it (easy and obvious to find – not dangerous). I saw many monkeys along the hike and lots of other wildlife! The trail goes up in a mellow fashion, except of the last part which is pretty damn hardcore. Hiking poles are recommended.
Time: 1:40hrs – going up.

Cannot go to the top anymore as the road is closed. The road is a bit tricky to climb although not very hard. Can go up to Mossy Forest.

The drive up to the Mossy Forest is not the easiest, its steep and winding, so please don't drive something like a Prius, Chery QQ or a Maserati that isn't really fit for this sort of thing.
The road from Brinchang town up the mountain is not fantastic, potholes and bumps abound, but its still a road and not a dirt track, so most cars and motorcycles should be able to go up. Drive/ride with care and not in the dark.
Disappointingly, the authorities have shut the road to the peak just 50m after the Mossy Forest, so you can't go any further than that.
The ride up is beautiful though and I would still do it again. I rode up on a large adventure motorcycle and it was great fun for me.

The access to Mt Brinchang is closed to vehicle at about 2000m near Mossy Forest.
Too bad otherwise the view up there would have been great!

This is indeed the peak of Cameron highlands. Gunung Brinchang is a famous tourist attraction and the road to go up is a bit curvy and you need to drive carefully. Up there are some of the best views you can get which make you feel the drive was worth it. Must go place..

We first drove to the Boh Tea Plantation, which was a challenge in itself as there were so many cars trying to navigate the narrow road in both directions. Having parked our car near there, we then walked to Gunung Brinchang and the Mossy Forest - a route not for the faint hearted, as it’s quite steep in places. But the views along the way were the best part. Acres of undulating ground planted with tea bushes. We took so many photographs, as every bend in the road seemed to provide a new perspective. It took us around 3.5 hours, including circumnavigating the canopy walk-way.
If you drive carefully along the pot-holed road, you can get there and back much quicker but, for us, the walk was better than the end attraction. The rating is for the attraction but we’d give the walk itself four “blobs”.

Recommended to go early morning to get a good serene view of the entire place. Can go visit Mossy Forest on your way back.

The Gunung Brinchang is one of the many tourist attraction around Cameron Highlands. Many foreigners love to get closest to this mountaintop. The weather this time around i very very cold for the locals. Don't miss it.

Hi, last year I drive to the peak of boh tea plantation.
And plan to drive gunung brinchang this time.
Can anyone advice me if the route to boh tea plantation is also the way to gunung brinchang?
Nature lovers dislike others to drive their vehicle to Gunung Brinchang and we prefer that u share the transport with 3~5 people in a mini-van from expert with guide from Tittiwangsa leisure itinerary @Cameron Highlands Brinchang town, their hotel desk.

Depends on how much you want to hike. Normally it is a 30 min adventure for photo takers.

You can drive all the way up to the peak, right?
Would it be easy for us to just hitchhike/take a taxi from Tanah Rata to Gunung Brinchang, then camp on the top of the hill and on the next day to hike down the hill via one of the trails? Also, is it really crowded or either quiet? How many people are usually camping on top of the hill in April?
I'd really appreciate an answer!
