We ducked in here for a few minutes to escape the heat and get some info. The place has some exhibits on past mayors of Ipoh and there is a display with some traditional clothes. There was also a water cooler there which was handy.

Easy to find and a great place to start your mural walk, make sure you get a parking ticket 4 ringgit for the entire day from any store before you start exploring.

it is located next to the ipoh padang in the center of the city. close to the old town. the outside looks nice and well painted. but it is definitely not an information centre. staff are not attentive and do not know much about touristism. i hope it improves.

Yesterday and today, on the occasion of the Chinese New Year, this office is not open to the public. Usually when do people go to tourism? On holidays, of course. Closing a visitor centre on the two days of the year with the biggest influx of visitors is a disservice to the community.

Having read all the negative reviews on the Ipoh tourist information centre I thought it couldn’t be that bad .well let me tell you it is .i waited for an extra 30 minutes after the so called lunch break but know one showed up which is very disappointing .you have a great city to explore here having travelled extensively through Asia I can tell you now one of the first places I visit in a new town is the tourist information centre to pick up maps and certain brochures of things to see and do .l know in this day and age you can look most things up On line but being able to talk to a local with local knowledge is what I want

Arrived at 11.30. A sign in malay on the door, a closed sign and another that said please take a map. Not the way to encourage tourists

I am surprised to read the "no service" comments here, as I found them extremely helpful. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon, just before closing and they were still open and very friendly. I received free maps of Ipoh, the heritage trail, the mural trail and they helped me to plan my visit to the cave temples by marking them on the map. The staff even had time to chat with me. Nice!!

I approached them for tips of exploring the city. They offered any free and paid tours, and also arranged for our transport to tambun area too, very friendly and helpful.

Got us on the right track to have a great time in Ipoh. The centre was very informative and enabled us to find a guide and see the sights. Great job.

It's very frustrating. I asked for a map so I could go and explore the area on foot. I received a map that had drawings of places of interest on one side, and on the other side, the numbers and what each drawing represents, however, the drawings didn't have any numbers to match up. I returned to the assistant and asked why they didn't have numbers. She said that's how they were printed.... that's useless, to say the least! She then gave me an old one that did have numbers, but then I had to ask, where are we now as that wasn't on the map. May I suggest that someone hand write on the new maps, 1. Number the drawings and 2. Write "you are here" so tourists can get their bearings.
