Oh wow! Tough! I love walking but the incline got to me . I wasn’t really prepared for the challenge. Lesson learned. I need to get better walking shoes with tighter ankle grip for walking down. It took us 2 and a half hours up and less coming down. We started at 10am and lucky that the day wasn’t too hot. So glad we made it to the top ! Hydrate often!! Take tiny sips every few mins , and even coming down. 1 ltr bottle should be enough for 1 person to drink and carry down.

After experiencing months of movement control order, finally a nice place to go with my family. Around 30minutes to get to the observation deck site. The view from top is superb and astounding. The air is so fresh and chill.

My friend and I love to hike so were keen as soon as we heard about this. It’s located around 20-30 minutes from Old Town. Arrived at around 9am in a Saturday morning and were met with heaps of locals on their way back down. We clearly missed the memo to start early! However, it’s actually under shade for a lot of it. Everyone was so friendly and we were literally the only foreigners there. I am surprised not more were there as it is so beautiful and we even saw two Howler monkeys! We climbed all the way to the top but actually views there aren’t great- view from the exercise park half way up far better. We used the website hikersforlife.com as it had a great run down of the different trails and rough times (we did 4-2 and the time was very accurate). Do it before other travellers find out about it!

Bukit kledang is an interesting hike. The cement pathway has some sharp inclines so I definitely recommend wearing comfortable shoes and loose fitting clothing. The area seems popular for locals to come and workout in the morning, and I wouldn't recommend hiking during the midday as it was an exhausting hike in the cool morning. You will past some shrines, shelters and some shabby bathrooms along the way so make sure you go to the washroom beforehand. After about 30-45 minutes into the hike, you might encounter some jungle trails which I definitely recommend if you want an early nice view of the city. Watch out as some steps are very tall, and the trails might just be some indents in the rock so hike with caution. I wasn't able to get to the gazebo viewpoint but I was able to snap a nice picture of the city. One thing I would recommend to others is to look ahead in the forecast, as the weather changed very quickly and I had to walk down the hill in heavy rain for a good 20 minutes.
Overall I recommend the hike to burn off some extra calories from all the food you'll eat in Ipoh.

Going up Kledang Hill is not a mean feat, but one definitely needs to be fit enough to pace up the highest peak in Ipoh.
Best to go before the sunrise to catch a glimpse of the egg yolk rising up the sky.
Enthusiasts scale up and down the hill each day mornings, noons and evenings... It's addictive!
Breakfast is available right after your morning walk in the famous coffee shops at the foot of the hill or to nearby Menglembu township.

This hike has varying routes that people of various fitness levels can enjoy. The path starts immediately at the entrance near the parking lot and continues in an upward, winding path. Beware that there is no signage to indicate different pathways or directions to viewpoints. There are several gazebos that you can rest at and seek shelter from the sun and some toilets. Make sure to get here as early as possibly. We arrived around 9am and many people were already hiking down. It gets very hot and the path is can be more challenging than it looks, especially with the heat and humidity. Dress appropriately, no flip flops, bring a hat and towel and lots of water!

Cool fresh air and abundant greenery make this place ideal for morning or evening walks. Many shelters are built along the way for visitors to stop and rest. A mini waterfall is somewhere midway. Some people comes for picnics too.

We are reasonably fit so started out in high hopes of reaching the top from the car park side. It was not the 6Km that did us but the steep road up... We turned back after 4 Km. We will be trying again from a different start point next week....

Kledang Hill (Bukit Kledang) is a wonderful place for morning and evening walks. Many people would come here for their morning walks especially on weekends. There are also many mountain bikers cycling uphill and downhill too. There is ample free parking places available and also some make-shift stalls selling local fruits, vegetables and fresh coconut juice. We have been here on Sunday mornings (3 times) and due to the uphill walk, we managed to walk to the first major rest area (25 minutes) which has a nice garden, foot reflexology stones (for bare-foot walking) and some exercise bars too. There are some public toilets located at this level too.

Hope to make it all the way to the top one of these days. Highly recommended especially if you are training for some uphill trekking. If not, it is still a pleasant place to exercise and it can get quite crowded depending on what time you get there. Many families will come here as they enjoy not only the nature trail but also like to keep an eye out for some of the animals like birds, squirels and monkeys.

It’s a good place for those who like hiking. There are some garden and gazebo for us to drop by as we hike along. You can also enjoy the breathtaking view of the city and snap photos. Sometimes there are people who selling coconuts and you can have one after the hiking. Not recommended for those who has knee problem as the mountain is quite steep, it may injure the knee. Good place for energetic couples.
