The place is awesome. Nature at its best.. Tried their hot spring and fish nibbles off the dried skin on my feet. Had lunch at jeff's cellar (a cave). The Malay Urut massage and body scrub are a pleasurable experience.

I've heard of this place and its reviews and have been wanting to experience it and when the opportunity arose, I jumped at it. Took a friend along and we stayed here for only a night. Unfortunately when we arrived it was raining and it went on the whole night and that was a bummer! However, I must say my experience with the resort and the staff was more than I expected from the moment I made the reservation to our check out. The customer service was exceptional! When we pulled up at the entrance of the resort, a staff was already waiting for us. Her name was Pamela and she made our stay extra special with her kind and genuine interest to make guests feel at ease and at home. She even took time to chat with us and remembered our name throughout our stay. The other staff at the resort were equally friendly and nice. Other hotels should emulate Banjaran's customer service considering the quality of service industry in the country dwindling at a rapid rate. The ambience was lovely backdrop of lush jungle and limestone hills. The meditation cave was just awesome, with beautiful natural designs dating back to more 400 million years ago. It is definitely a good place to meditate or gather your thoughts or look for some quiet time alone. The cellar is another place one should not miss. Imagine having your drinks inside a cave. Tastefully done. Ideal place for couples or families or friends. It's just amazing. The villa was nice, big, comfortable with a small pool and a jacuzzi with geothermal water and normal hot/cold water The jacuzzi is accessible via the bathroom or the pool area. The bathroom is big with separate shower and toilet with his/ hers sink. The bed is absolutely fantastic. The moment you lie on it, you just don't want to get out of it. The resort focuses more on wellness so the food served are organic and there are yoga, reiki, massages, wellness programme to suit to your needs. The spa is expensive no doubt, double or even triple the price you pay at a 4-5 star hotel. My only complaints were the pool was dirty and the water kept receeding making it less appealing to swim. I have stayed in villas with pools overseas before and by far regretfully this is the worse pool and its maintenance I have ever encountered. In the end, I couldn't bring myself to swim in the pool. We had to call the pool maintenance guys and after they did some repair work, less than an hour later the pool resumed to being in need of service again! Since it rained the night before, some parts of the villa was leaking including the bathroom and the entrance of the room. My friend fell
because of that and hurt herself. The shower pressure is horrible! Imagine there is rain shower faucet but water is trickling down! That was just sheer disappointment. Overall, it was a nice and peaceful place to stay. I reiterate I would give 5 stars for their customer service but for the price quoted I would think they would need to buck up on their
maintenance of the villa and pool.

Just went to The Banjaran from 20-22 July 2012. It is a quiet and very exclusive resort. Comprising just 25 villas, even at full occupancy, there are only 50 guests. Front desk staff were helpful, especially Din. The Garden villa we stayed in (No.4) was very spacious. It has a plunge pool, an open living/dining area, 2 deck chairs, a large bedroom with a super-sized king-bed. This opens into a large walk-in closet & vanity area, and separate shower and toilet. Out in the back and in the open is a jacuzzi which can be filled with geothermal water from the hotspring (70-deg Celsius!). Facilities on site include 1 restaurant (The Pomelo), a free-form naturally-heated swimming pool, a mediation cave, a crystal cave, a yoga deck which sits at the edge of the hotspring lake, and a wonderful spa. The massage (Malay Urut) was very good. Guests can visit the resort owner's personal wine cave (Jeff's Cellar), which is done up quite nicely. Overall, quite a pleasant stay, good for a couple getaway. It's really peaceful.

Went for body massage on the 7Jan19.
It was one of the worst body massage that I ever had ! For the price of RM600 per hour, I felt cheated, the therapist's skill was lousy. All three therapists that did for my friend ( a local from Ipoh), my mum and I were incompetent.
They didn't wear mask, their hands motion were not continuous so one feels stoppages all the time during the massage, took a long time (to prepare ? or ??) in between body and face massage and the oil used smells "old", leaving one's body greasy and heavy after the massage.
The receptionist was un-professional. All that mattered is to collect payment after our massage; without even checking on guests' satisfaction of the service. I was left speechless, shocked to the extreme to find this kind of service standard in a 5 star resort.

It was a great experience being able to stay so near to nature. It was the hotspring that attracted me here and it did not let me down. There is absolutely nothing to complain about the environment there - the location is great, nestled within nature, villa is spacious etc.
Some visitors complained about the food quality at The Pomelo restaurant. I thought it was pretty good. Yes, the prices are exhorbitant but I guess that's a price to pay if one is too lazy to walk out for food. I had dinner there on my first night and felt the food was naturally flavourful. Breakfast every morning also left me satisfied.
There were a couple of occasions when we called the butler to ask about some usual things like how much for a cab, how much does it cost to Lost World, but they didn't know, which I felt was puzzling since these are rather 'ordinary' questions. But, they do call back with the relevant answers so I do appreciate that.
I was also rather disappointed by some of the facilities - The crystal cave was small and I really did not understand the point of it. Neither did I understand why was someone's private collection of wine an attraction. The Ice Dipping Pool POt was literally a pot, small and tiny.
There are some things I think travellers who are considering this place should prepare themselves for:
1. The Banjaran has a Jungle Walk which apparent links you to Sunway/Lost World but we weren't told we had to make payment first. My partner and I trekked through the Jungle Walk, only to be greeted by a gate which we could not get pass. We had no choice but to head back and it was only after I checked with the butler did I know we had to make payment first before we can get pass the gate.
2. There is no complimentary pickup or drop-off or shuttle service. I do feel that they should have provided complimentary shuttle service to town. Customers do, afterall, pay a premium to stay at Banjaran. Even a one-way shuttle or complimentary shuttle to the bus or train station would be great but we were told we will have to pay 50 ringgit for a bus station pickup, and 30 ringgit to call a cab in to bring us to town.
3. They do allow children in the hotel. For some reason, I was under the impression that no young kids were allowed in. But during my stay, I did notice a few families there. The place is, however, huge enough to have you personal space without being disturbed, but for those who are under the same impression as I was, they DO allow children in.
Overall, it is still an experience to remember, though I think people who are considering a stay there should manage their expectations a little. :)

Chose one of the ayuverdic massage and was disappointed. I had expected the traditional massage where hot oil is slowly dripped onto forehead, instead the therapist merely applied lukewarm oil all over my body, with very slight pressure massage. Also, it was supposed to be 75 mins massage, but was informed, it's actually 45 mins massage and 30 mins in the anti-oxidant room which feels like just a sauna, and is just an empty heated room, with towels laid on the bare tiled floor. I had expected better quality for the price.

We went for the meditation program with the in-house guru at the Crystal Cave. The meditation program was really good, we've gained alot from it and we really appreciate the guru's patience in explaining things to us.
The place was beautiful, a tranquil place for a relaxing day out.
The staffs were really friendly and helpful too, but lack attentiveness. It was about to rain while we're leaving and there was no umbrella or buggy service from the Spa & Wellness Center to the lobby. Ended up, we were all wet and we hope this can be taken care of on our next visit.
Overall, it was a pleasant day spent at The Banjaran.

A place that you definitely wants to be with your partner. The place is full of magic and surprises. You should try Dr fish (to dip your feet) , Hot dipping pots, meditation cave (Breathing classes), reflexology pool and spa. This is a place that you do not want to miss to try. Also the Crystal/steam cave, and dinner at Jeff cellar is a must. All this come free with the package except meal. Just 2 hrs drive from KL town. Opt for the villa if your budget permit. (young children is not permit to this place to preserve the privacy of the place) Package - 3 days 2 nights. Not advisable for longer then that :-)

We arrived to a very miserable and curt security man at the gate. He did not tell us where to park and when we did finally park, their was a huge amount of building going on. We could not find out how to get in, and ended up climbing over scaffolding etc , which was a bit worrying . Eventually found a paper note stuck on a wall directing us to an alternative route. I was pretty grumpy by this stage.
A stunning setting. Once settled in we were shown around. It really is very beautiful.
There seemed to be very few staff in evidence and certainly no visible management. It was lovely but just seemed a bit amateur at times. A great concept but a bit rough around the edges.
We had 6 hours of treatments. the pedicure was a bit lame, but the wrap and massage therapy were good. At the end we were not sure what to do as we seemed to be an hour short but apparently that was for us to have a bath....
Overall it is worth visiting. I can see what they are trying to do , it needs some good management to carry that vision on to its end.

We had a package that included a hydrotherapy bath, facial and massage and light lunch. The bath , no different to a whirlpool tub. The massage and facial were wonderful. Spent the rest of the day alternating between the fish nibbling pool, natural hot tubs, and the steam caves. If in Ipoh this is a must do
