The museum is along the heritage walking route, near the St. Michael Institution.
It's free of charge and during my visit, the museum was having a special limited time art exhibition displaying art installations and paintings different from what they usually have.
It was a decent place to learn about arts and history, the building was well-kept with cool air conditioning, well-organized displays, as well as friendly and kind staff to tell you information about the museum display and exhibition.
Give it a visit when you are in town!

I stumbles upon this museum when doing the heritage walk. The building itself is very well kept and the staff was very friendly. Nothing wrong. Just a bit, well, boring. You get to see equipment used in tin mining and learn about some of the historical buildings in Ipoh. Not all information was translated to English. There's no reason to not drop in if you happen to go by past it. But also no reason to make a plan to get out there. It is free!

The building architecture & design are interesting. However, nothing much contents inside it. Only open the ground floor for visitors. It only takes 10 minutes to take a round

Dural Ridzuan Museum is located at Ipoh and this museum has been already been renovated to a modern new design. It is a free entry and it has a historic value. The building is of unique well maintained colonial architecture and is also worth a second look. The building itself a small cozy wooden bungalow which a residence of a high rank in the Colonial Regime. This has been converted into a museum. It later used to house a government department before conversion to its current use as a museum.
This museum site is a colonial structure mansion built by tin miner Foo Choong Kit in 1926. In 1950 it was sold to the Perak State Government to house the Department of Works. Then, it was in 1992 that this building finally become a museum. The displays showed as the UNESCO World Heritage Site (WHS) of Lenggong Valley archaeological artefacts, history of tin mining (the lifeblood of Perak in the late 19th and early 20th century) and forestry in Perak
An hour or two will just be nice to savour the goldem days of Perak state and Ipoh cityThis is a great place to learn about the history of Perak and all the different cultures that meet here.
All exhibits have English explanations which was great. It is better to visit in the afternoon heat as you will be indoors and enjoy the air-conditioning in it.
There is hardly any signage pointing to this although the can be recognized it by the building itself which is in the middle of a large parking lot.
We learnt about the early history of Perak and main characters of the administration and prominent local leaders. We also learnt more about the 1.83 million years old stone-age axe and the skeleton of 'Perak Man' dated back about 10,000 years ago.
There are also tin mining equipment displayed outside of the building, vehicles and equipment used in those days ( for Tin mining, Fire extinguishing ), artifacts weapons and machinery of the army then, as well as an underground air shelter built against air raid during the World War II.
The ground floor portrays the grand history of Perak, being the first colonialised and developed state in Malaysia and all, while the upper floor show the state's natural history.

The visit is very educational. If you wish to come to Sri Lanka, I (top 10 contributor) can help you if you inform me through the message box, found in the pop up, got by clicking my profile photo or “Level 6 Contributor” displayed with this review.

Museum? Or art gallery? They only had a display of some art pieces when I visit this time. Time wasting and not worth a visit.

Nice architecture but nothing to offer. A disappointment.

Apart from the ground floor which is being used to showcase provincial political issues and history, the museum has been shut down. Not sure what has happened to the artefacts it once contained. A taxi driver thought they might have been relocated to the Perak Museum in Taiping. Worth a visit to see the building but the current exhibit wouldn't mean anything to someone without a detailed knowledge of Perak political history.

No disrespect but I see a lot of potential for this museum. It hurts me to see the state it is at today and I can only think of a million ways to improve the premise and it's historic values.
