This old clock tower is worth a look on a city sightseeing tour. It says alittle about the history of this clock tower and is good for a quick photo.

The clock tower is just opposite to the Ipoh train station and near to a food court nearby. Worth visit for check-in pictures.

The Birch Memorial clock tower is quite close to the main railway train station of Ipoh.
The colonial architecture is really attracted to me.
As it is so hot so the best go there after 5 pm.

The clock tower is quite close to the train station and occupies a huge space, signifying the importance of the clock tower to the city. The design of the clock tower is in sync with the architecture of the place.

Worth a quick visit the clock tower is named after J Birch who was somewhat controversial. Apparently he and the Malays didnt get along to such an extent he was assassinated by them. One interesting thing about the clock is that one of the portraits on the tower is whited out. I was told by a local that this was Mohamed and the Malays had protested about him been portrayed so it had been painted out. The white paint is fading so you can still make out the original portrait underneath

The Birch Memorial Clock Tower is a clock tower located close to the main railway station of Ipoh and the town hall of the city. The tower was created as a memorial to James Birch, who was the British resident of Perak during the British Empire. As clock towers go, this is a standard four sided tower with each face displaying a clock. The tower is painted in a simple black and white scheme, and interestingly has four spires surrounding the tower rather than on the tower itself. Most of the things to see in Ipoh are around this area, so it’s worth a quick diversion.

Good to see. The colonial architechture really pulls me, but it is so hot that most people just stay in their cars. Don't know much about this building, don't know if you can visit it.

Interesting place to visit and note that it was erected in honour of the British resident governor at that time, who was killed by the locals.. There are pictures / paintings of the happenings of that era. At least this building has not been removed but left to stand in this Malay state..

As for a local like me, it's nothing much here. But you can pass by here when you visit the railway station and ipoh's old town area.
Located just across the state mosque, so be sure to stop by.
Food court also located at the side.
