We went to the Gama store to basically see what was in it. Very much a local department store selling shoes, bags, clothing etc. what you would expect really. Prices very reasonable.

The unassuming look of the complex would make u think it would be 'run down' state. Surprisingly, it provides a variety of merchandise. Quality wise is also reasonable and not 'rundown'. Worth taking a trip there if you plan on shopping under one roof.

We stayed at Hotel Jen Penang by Shangrila in Georgetown, Penang, which is located close to the GAMA Supermarket & Department Store. This is supposedly the oldest departmental store on Penang Island and the advantage is that it is great department store selling clothes and household items at very reasonable prices and not tourist prices. …
