Stay until the sky completely darkens.
You won't be able to just climb to the top floor. The minimum ticket includes visits to several more places: Aquarium, Jurassic Park, TOP Penang Avenue of Adventure. The ticket is not too expensive. Compared to similar places in Europe and the USA, it’s simply cheap. I definitely recommend visiting here. At the very top, you will first walk through a completely glass-enclosed floor with a panoramic view. Those who wish can use the external passage along the bridge behind the windows. With special equipment, of course. And then go out to the upper, open floor. Under the skies. There's definitely no ceiling here. And the glass sides are not so high. You can photograph the city above the glass. There are not very many people at sunset, and it is precisely before sunset that I recommend you come here. The landscapes are amazing. Then sunset and the slow gradual turning on of the illumination and lanterns in the city. Amazingly beautiful! Stay until the sky completely darkens. There is a restaurant on the floor, where you can have a snack.
Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review of The TOP Penang. We're delighted to hear that you had such a great experience enjoying the panoramic views and the sunset from our observation deck. We agree – it’s truly a breathtaking sight, especially as the city lights start to illuminate after dark. We also appreciate your feedback about the ticketing and attractions. We're glad to know that you found the price reasonable compared to similar attractions in Europe and the US. Your recommendation to stay until the sky darkens is perfect, and we’re happy you enjoyed the overall experience. We hope to welcome you again soon for another memorable visit.

Ignore all the other so-called attractions and enjoy the view from the observation deck
The building stands out and is easy to find though once inside the sign-posting is very poor. Eventually I found the entrance to the observation deck, only to be sent on a hike back to a hidden ticket office. Second time lucky and I loved the observation deck, the roof and the skywalk.
Thank you for sharing your experience at The TOP Penang. We're glad to hear that you loved the observation deck, roof, and skywalk. We appreciate your feedback regarding the sign-posting and ticket office, and we’ll work on improving the signage to make it easier for our visitors to navigate the building. We hope to welcome you again soon, and we’ll ensure your next visit is even more enjoyable. Thanks for choosing The TOP Penang!

Worth going for the Rainbow Skywalk and Observatory Deck.
The TOP Penang as the name suggests is just basically that very high building you can see all around the city. If you go to the TOP, there is an indoor theme park which is good for children. I went to the Rainbow Skywalk and Observatory Deck which was pretty cool with good views. Sunset is a good time. The building itself looks old and worn but worth going to the top. This is the tallest building in Penang.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your visit to The TOP Penang. We're glad you enjoyed the Rainbow Skywalk and Observatory Deck, especially during sunset – the views are indeed stunning. We appreciate your feedback about the building, and we are constantly working on improving the overall experience for our visitors. Your comments are valuable to us as we strive to enhance our facilities and offerings. We hope to welcome you again soon to explore more of what The TOP has to offer. Thanks for choosing us!

The vibe was so good, it's the must of the beach.
At the Komtar building, I went in the evening when the sun is sinking, something is not allowed. Buy a 78 MYR viewing ticket. The staff may need a little improvement. The faces are not very accommodating enough to go upstairs in the rainy rain. I recommend a good weather forecast on the atmosphere. It's perfect to be with fans. There are glass viewing spots for people who are afraid of heights.
Thank you for taking the time to share your review and for visiting The TOP Penang. We're thrilled to know that you enjoyed the beautiful ambiance and breathtaking views we offer. We sincerely apologize if the service provided by our staff fell short of your expectations. We truly appreciate your feedback, and we'll use it to enhance our service and provide a better experience for future guests. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Thank you for making The TOP Penang a part of your journey.

The TOP is located in downtown Georgetown and offers the opportunity to enjoy several attractions (dinosaurs, aquarium, zombie invasion, etc.) in addition to restaurants and bars.

We opted for the observatory and the "rainbow walk" located on the 68th floor of the tower, for RM68 per person. There is also a glass part before going up to 68th from where you see part of the city. The observatory is located at the top of the tower and it offers a 360° view of the entire city and its surroundings. On a clear day you can see far. We can see in particular the two bridges.

The rainbow walk, or rainbow platform, is a sort of path in the shape of a rainbow, as its name suggests, whose floor is glass, allowing you to fully enjoy the view which is located right next to it. down. We enjoyed the place at night, perhaps it was less impressive than during the day but it was still an extraordinary experience. It is mandatory to remove your shoes to enjoy it.

Once on the glass platform, there is no time limit, you have plenty of time to enjoy and take photos. Keep in mind that in the event of bad weather (rain, wind) it will not be possible to go there. The hostesses down at the cash desk will warn you, rest assured, you won't pay for tickets for nothing.
A bar and a restaurant are located at the top, so you can always take the opportunity to grab a bite to eat and sit on one of the many benches there to enjoy the view. Nice soundscape in a pretty setting (rainbow fountain)

Allow at least an hour to take your time! It will also depend on how many photos you plan to take once on the glass walkway!

Very good view from the top of the building, best of all in Penang. Recommended, it will be great to visit around 5 pm, enjoying sunset from the tallest building in Penang. After finish with the view and photographs, then you can enjoy meal time at restaurant.

We chose to visit The Top today as it was air conditioned and we just wanted to visit the tech dome. We started with really low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised! For a family of 7, we paid under Rm300 for a day pass to most attractions with some seniors and civil service concession.

The miniature Penang and the Durian Museum we’re both well maintained and informative. We loved the many photos opportunities with the family and as it’s in January, there’s hardly anyone and we just leisurely took our time to tour the places.

Most of the service staff were very polite and helpful and we were allowed multiple entries to the bumper cars which my tweens loved. We also had a Funtastic time at the with the various interactive exhibits and my 11 year loved the Techdome G-activities (3 activities for Rm 12 or Rm 5 for 1). There are plenty of air conditioned food options in Komtar and I would not recommend shopping in the building.

The Dino Gym is a little strict with the socks on policy and I think they can consider allowing accompanying adults in and providing more seating areas for people. Other than that my kids loved the basketball trampoline section.

The aquarium is well maintained and I loved especially the incorporation of the local culture into the tanks. However, i feel it needed more exotic sea life from the region to add the umph factor. Honestly, I got pretty bored after the glow in the dark fishes as the fishes all looked pretty much the same after that...

The plus point is the activities are across generations that my 9 year old and my 70 year old family can enjoy together and create beautiful memories.

The views from the observatory presentation and the rainbow skywalk were exhilarating and the family enjoyed the time on it thoroughly! Thank you for a fun day out and we’ll come back again.

Marvellous view but be aware if you are going to the Restaurant, you have to Buy a Voucher for 65 rm per Person. There are no Vegetarian Options available Except of appetisers. you have to order a Main Course First before you can Order an Appetizer or a Dessert. This is a Kind of Scam in my Opinion.

Thank you for your review and for sharing your thoughts with us. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed the magnificent views, but we apologize for the confusion and frustration caused by our restaurant's policies. We understand how important it is to offer clear information and a variety of options for all our guests. Your feedback regarding the voucher system and the vegetarian options is valuable, and we will work on improving the clarity of our signage and menu offerings. We genuinely appreciate your input, and we hope you’ll give us another opportunity to provide a better dining experience during your next visit.

It was full of surprises when I visited The TOP. First the giant long ceiling LED Screen caught my eyes. We bought their “Top Day Fun Pass” ticket, they told us we can enter 15 attractions + it is a multiple entry pass within a day. My parents who are over 60 year old bought at child rate. The day we visited was so hot and late afternoon started raining heavily, luckily it was like almost 90% indoor and air-conditioned. We gained knowledge while visiting those “Edutainment” attractions such as Jurassic Research Center, Aquarium, Durian King Museum, Penang State Gallery & Tech Dome Science Center.

Besides, my aunty (Penangites), she was so touched & emotional when she saw the whole view of Penang through Level 68 outdoor observatory deck. This flashes back many of her memory while she was still young, earning hard money for living, went through the process of changes over the years. She felt happy to see the well developed Penang today. She mentioned Penangite should be up here at least 1 time to see how beautiful Penang is today.

Lastly, while exploring 360 view of Penang, we also walked through Rainbow Skywalk. The look-down view from transparent glass was so stunning.

Beautiful views and fun experience. No crowds on a Friday morning. Apparently if you have a reservation at the restaurant you don’t need admission - at least that is what I was told on the way down. But the ticket was not expensive. A little hard to find through the maze of shops and malls - just ask for “The Top” not the rainbow skybridge.

The Dino Gym pointless for parents who just want to sit and watch their kids play no areas to sit unless you have socks on. It’s Malaysia it’s hot, the kids have socks let parents watch with shoes on.

The dinosaur park old and hot, you have to walk outside in the heat.

The building is empty and there are limited food options. If you are a tourist don’t bother. Their are good views of the city from other locations check out some of the other hotels that have rooftop bars. They don’t cost anything to enter and you can enjoy a drink or two for the price you pay at Komtar.

I noticed they have stop entry without a ticket and it’s obvious why. If you took a look at what’s available for kids you wouldn’t bother.

For a better option go to Cocoon at least they provide slides for parents to enter.

To reiterate if you are a tourist I would bother unless you a desperate to let your kids run around.

It is good for the views. The activities are okay-ish. The price at which it is being offered is fair. Can easily spend 1-2 hours watching the sun set and the city lights coming on at night. Cafe/restaurant is average.

Children will love it but it is also good for families of all ages. Worth a visit. Much to do and see - Science Center, kids' playland, Dinosaur museum, an aquarium, car bumper ride, skywalk, 360 degree rootop view (60th? floor) of Penang skyline. All-day fun pass allows for multiple entries and you can exit the place and return within the same day to enjoy the attractions as long as you have wrist tag intact on your wrist. Food at the Japanese corner is disappointing, rootop cafe/restaurant is unreasonably expensive, in my opinion. There are one Malay restaurant, a chinese restaurant ( reasonably priced), a fast food joint and some other stalls offering light bites.

Had a disappointing and terrible experience, went to rainbow skywalk but not even 5 minutes it started to rain, had to go down to 65th floor to wait for the rain to stop, there wasnt even any activity or entertainment there to pass the time, the movie theater was apparently under maintenance, there was lack of staff and you cant even leave and re-enter later when the rain stops. Literally waited there doing nothing for 1 hour and ended up leaving with nothing but that 5 minutes of experience. Didnt even get to walk on the skywalk. What a joke. Highly do not recommend to waste your money or time here.
