My wife and I wanted to visit the museum. When we arrived was the gate closed and all shutters down. There was no sign whether the museum was closed for the day (It was a Saturday, not a National Holiday), or whether it is permanently closed.

Accidentally stumble on this simply because it was next to Sunway Hotel where we’re staying. It is very unique, I don’t think I’ve been to a crystal museum. Lots of displays. I hope they put on more benches for elderly to sit while visiting. The gift shop is very good and full of lovely gifts for souvenirs. On my visit as it was early, the air-conditioner wasn’t working very well and it was quite humid half way through. Cost MYR$10 per person which is worth every penny. I believe there was a 40% off most of the things at the gift shop because they’re moving the museum to another location. Upon paying the entrance fees, we were not very sure what we were going to expect as the front entrance was not very impressive. Upon entering the door on top of the staircase, we were taken by surprise. The crystals were absolutely beautiful and we felt like we just walked into a real life crystal cave. There were numerous shapes and sizes of crystals to stare and admire. They even have a torchlight to shine at some crystals for 3D effect. We really enjoyed our "journey" through the halls of crystals. At the end, the usual gift shop with lots of crystal to choose from. Prices are a little on the high side but in the eyes of crystal lovers, it does not matter.…

We were not really sure what to expect at the museum, as sometimes when things are 'promoted' as the world's largest etc etc the reality can fail to meet expectations...so we decided we'd go anyway. After paying our entrance fee, and being guided up the stairs we were met with the largest collection of rock crystals I have ever seen (or ever expect to see)....and really enjoyed to variety on display. These crystals must be worth 100's of thousands of dollars. Of course at the end of the display is the obligatory 'gift shop'...where you can purchase jewellery, pewter as well as smaller versions of the crystal examples just viewed. Choice paralysis, but I managed to purchase two beautiful crystal samples - one as a present and one for myself!…

Located in a quiet place. So much to see, lots of variety of natural designs that are labeled perfectly to their shape. Well represented, well lit and showcased. Educational history of Penang's natural resources. Gift store overwhelmed with inventory to choose from and a bit pricey.…
