Me and my boyfriend took this class with Chef Samuel and had so much fun. We loved the food in Malaysia, but it seemed so mysterious to us because of the unfamiliar ingredients and preparation methods. Chef Samuel walked us thru everything and gave us lots of great cooking tips, flavor breakdowns, and more. You even get to go to a famous local market to buy the supplies! It was a lot of hard work, but we felt really proud of ourselves at the end and are definitely going to try and recreate these dishes with the recipes he made. Overall, what an awesome experience in Penang!! I totally recommend it!

This was definitely one of the best things we have done in Malaysia! We have learned so much about different asian cuisine, cooking styles and culture. It was a truly rememberable experience! Samuel is a very passionate, inspiring and yet humble person who will treat you more like you are his guests than customers. ☺️🙏🏻 Do not miss out on having a private cooking class with him! You won‘t regret it

Inspiring cooking session with Chef Samuel. Chef Samuel shares his passion for cooking local Pernankan cuisine during his culinary classes. He is very knowledgeable in the balance of his spices and ingredients and was very creative with his recipes.

One of the best cooking experiences I ever had, his apartment has an amazing view of Penang. I had the chance to cook spicy ikan Bakar and Kuih Koci in an relaxing environment. Chef Samuel was patient to explain the importance of each ingredient. I could appreciate Pernankan cuisine so much better.

Chef Samuel also prepared a take-home recipe for me to recreate these dishes with my family and friends. Definitely the highlight of my trip!

My wife and I are an older couple and we completed a cooking class with Chef Samuel two days ago which we enjoyed very much. The cuisine for Chef Samuel changes daily and for our class, we cooked southern Chinese food which was complex, spicy and delicious. While not a private class, we were the only two people on the day and Chef Samuel was attentative to our needs and with his very good English, could answer any of our many questions. His email communications with us before and after our class was fantastic and it included a number of recommendations for locations for different foods in Penang. We learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We would both highly recommend a class with Chef Samuel as an enjoyable and informative experiece that was also good value for the price.

If you would like to experience cooking class in Penang you are definitely on the right place because there’s no greater way to experience the culture and history of Penang than by feasting on our glorious food and there is no better choice than Samuel's cooking class. In the morning we have started with a little tour through the markets, we have tried local breakfast and Samuel told us a lot about history, culture etc. Then we experienced class at his home (you will have the most stunning view from the balcony), it was a lot of fun and easy to do for people of all culinary abilities. Eating the food you made yourself at the end was the highlight for us. Highly recommend

If you're tired of so-called "cooking courses" where the cook does 90% of the job and you just stir some pastes with your friends, you definitely should try Samuel!
We went to the wet market early in the morning to buy EVERYTHING needed afresh - of course you learn so much about the local culture during the process. Afterwards Samuel took us to a very local and delicious breakfast. At Samuel's spacious kitchen, we did EVERYTHING ourselves (well... maybe 80%) while Samuel provided the menu and some hands-on help. The process is VERY interesting and eating your own food feels great!
Btw DO book a private class if you can! Definitely worth the money. You can pick your own dishes. We got the chance to learn Chinese Hainan Chicken, white curry noodles and Portuguese roasted fish in one run.

Cooking with chef Samuel, and what an experience! We loved the cooking class. Getting the ingredients fresh from the market, and having a breakfast over there. Overall a chef who knows his recipes and the food we cooked was delicious.
Thank you for sharing your cuisine!
