The fort is really only the outer walls, no actual Fort or castle is left. There are some very interesting old cannon to be seen, one in particular dating back to the Dutch East India Company. On a hot day such as when we visited there is very little shade, however, the on site Cafe is excellent and just the... More

We took the guided tour that was included with admission. We learned a lot about the history of the area and the British influence. Also a lot about the fort.

Please dont pay to go inside. It's pretty much just an empty garden inside surrounded by broken walls and old cannons. The maintenance inside is poor and even the photo booth is extremely torn. How could they charge a twenty bucks for a run down place like this! I know it's full with history but one can simply admire it... More

The fort is a bit of a memorial to the old British colonial days, but there isn't really much there. We did see an outdoors performance of folk dancing there which was a lot of fun, especially the primary school kids.

If you love history, this is a must visits place in Penang. A historic food overlooking the Penang Straits will give you an idea of how the colonial protect Penang from intruders. You would be able to see several historical cannons and a good place to have few photograph taken.

The fireworks were phenomenal. The park must look a little different in the daytime...it seems they must host events there occasionally. Great place to meet up with friends.

I paid my RM20 entrance fee and was expecting something more than was on offer. A little more history of the place would have been nice. Not only its use by the British but it seems to have served another purpose as well. Not much of an entrance fee so not much to offer I guess. There were a couple... More

I don't usually go in during the year. I have been inside a few times, so I drop off friends who are visiting and wait for them outside. However, on the last day of Chinese New Year, it's the venue for a super ending to the two week celebration. Lots of food, crowds and entertainment. The historical significance of the... More

Without taking the free english tour, this site would have been a lot less interesting. The tour, combined with the photos and descriptions on the fort ramparts made all the difference. Our tour guide Molly painted an excellent historical portrait regarding the fort.

The other place was under renovation. If you have kids that can run a bit on the grass. Also it's an interesting historical place. The tour is also available. But it's small - one hour at very most.
