George Town's Queen Street is Penang in microcosm. With a colonial name, the street is a congregation of Chinese shrines, Hindu temples and mosques. Historic buildings are also scattered along the thoroughfare. Tourists may meander around and experience the unique vibe of George Town.

Queen, King and Penang streets running next to each other form the vibrant small business district of Little India with bright textiles and shining costume jewellery. Sri Maha Mariammam Temple is easy to sight from Lebuh Chulia where the bus stops. You can also take a leisurely sightseeing tour by a bicycle rikshaw which are driven nowadays more by strong younger men.

The temples and the street are well worth a look - and there are some lovely Indian food stands to choose snacks from as you walk along.

A good walk from the hotel. So many old buildings to see but restored for preserving. Most valuable at this time was weather, nice weather.
