Built in 1833, the Arulmigu Sri Mahamariamman is the oldest Hindu temple in Penang. The temple is nice but compared to other Hindu temples on Penang island this one is quite small and not a must-see.

Little but interesting , full of colours , many statues, just a shame that there are no explanations for the people that are not familiar with the religion .

This is a brilliant temple in little India. We were lucky to visit on a special day when the bring out the god in a chariot pulled by two bulls. Thousands of people followed the chariot singing. It was great.

Had trouble finding the temple, as we did not realize it was the building under renovations covered in tarpaulins. Cross it off your list for now, maybe next time.
